Starting quarterback AJ McCarron suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of No. 1 Alabama’s win over Missouri Saturday and, after a brief reappearance, watched the remainder of the blowout from the sidelines. Head coach Nick Saban said after the game that the program’s medical personnel would reevaluate the junior in 24 hours; during the unveiling of the first BcS rankings Sunday night, Saban allowed his starter was “doing fine.”
At his weekly Monday press conference, Saban reiterated that stance.
“AJ’s OK,” Saban said. “He has a bruised knee. He’s still sore. He will try to do some things in practice today.”
The Tide will travel to Tennessee Saturday looking to extend its winning streak to 11 games dating back to last season.
thats great news
It’s a relief to know he didn’t further aggravate the injury by going back into the game. NCAA and NFL players seem to be dropping at an unusually fast rate this year. Thankful A.J. will be able to fight another day.
I want to know who the idiots are that thumbs-down posts that share good news. If Florida is fortunate enough to play Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, and I know that’s a big IF, I’d want AJ in there. What kind of a test is it playing someone when they’re not at full strength? Of course you want to win, but a competitor wants to play and beat the best. How else can you truly feel satisfied if you’re fortunate enough to win if the other team’s missing a key component, especially someone as talented as McCarron? I hope he’s 100% the rest of the way.
@florida727 …
The world has always had its percentage of idiots, bullies, petty, mean-spirited fools, and cowards. The Internet just allows them the anonymity to operate without consequences.

And personally, Deb, I’m grateful
I’m not a Tide fan but I never like it when a player gets hurt, no matter who he plays for. It’s only a game. I’m happy he’s ok.
