APWhen Dayne Crist followed his former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis to Kansas, it was basically assumed from the get-go that Crist would be the starting quarterback for the Jayhawks.
Through the first few games of the season, that held up as planned. However, in a 20-14 loss to Oklahoma State, Weis opted to put in backup Michael Cummings in the third quarter. Cummings, just a freshman, then led a pair of fourth quarter scoring drives and finished the game with 75 yards passing and a touchdown.
For this Saturday’s loss game against Oklahoma, Weis has decided he will play both quarterbacks, though he won’t say in what capacity or who will start.
“I think that Michael deserves an opportunity to play, based off of his recent performance,” Weis said. “Both of the quarterbacks have been informed that they’re gonna play. They know what we have available to them.”
Somehow the idea of having interchangeable field generals never works out well for anyone except the opponent. And I doubt Oklahoma needs the extra edge in this game.
Somebody explain to me why Kansas hired this idiot?
apparently they were experiencing a lot of wasted food at the cafeteria and now they have someone to give it to so the coach can take it home with him
What would Florida’s record be today had Chuck stayed there? Most likely Driskel would be riding the pine and Florida would be somewhere in the 3-3 area. The Florida people are counting their lucky stars that Kansas was stupid enough to hire this guy. One can only conclude that Muschamp and Weis were miles apart philosophically.
@deb:
It worked for Florida one year against FSU, and I think vice versa another year. But I agree with you and the old saying, “If you have 2 quarterbacks, you really have none.”
P.S. Isn’t Oklahoma playing Notre Dame this week? Did Ben mean Okie State? Or does somebody have a bye?
One Qb or 4 Qbs Kansas will get taken behind the woodshed and bludgeoned by Oklahoma.
By the time the Sooners finish they will be down to their #4 anyway……..63-7
Hell, play 3 QBs, but don’t even think of playing 4.
Yeesh, guys. I got ahead of myself, obviously. It didn’t help that I read next week’s TV schedule. Sorry.
great. Now he’ll have 2 QBs playing that can’t win
Jabba the Weis also vowed he would best his record of consuming 3 extra large meat lovers, salami stuffed deep fried crust pregame pizzas
Chuckles also plans to lose about 75 pounds by game-time. Not bloody likely!!
