Charlie Weis plans to play two QBs against Oklahoma

When Dayne Crist followed his former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis to Kansas, it was basically assumed from the get-go that Crist would be the starting quarterback for the Jayhawks.

Through the first few games of the season, that held up as planned. However, in a 20-14 loss to Oklahoma State, Weis opted to put in backup Michael Cummings in the third quarter. Cummings, just a freshman, then led a pair of fourth quarter scoring drives and finished the game with 75 yards passing and a touchdown.

For this Saturday’s loss game against Oklahoma, Weis has decided he will play both quarterbacks, though he won’t say in what capacity or who will start.

“I think that Michael deserves an opportunity to play, based off of his recent performance,” Weis said. “Both of the quarterbacks have been informed that they’re gonna play. They know what we have available to them.”
