Marcus Lattimore may not play against Florida

One of the biggest games for the SEC East division title takes place this Saturday when No. 9 South Carolina visits No. 3 Florida. However, the Gamecocks may have to try to survive the Swamp without its best offensive player, running back Marcus Lattimore.

Steve Spurrier mentioned Wednesday that Lattimore is has a hip injury and may not play against the Gators. Kenny Miles is likely to get the start.

“Marcus Lattimore did not practice again today,” Spurrier said. “I don’t know how to list him. I’m not sure if he’s even going to be able to play. (Jadeveon) Clowney is limited – his foot is bothering him. And of course the defensive tackles, (Kelcy) Quarles, (JT) Surratt and (Byron) Jerideau; Quarles probably won’t play. JT and Jerideau are limited, so we’ve got the freshmen guys, Phillip Dukes and Gerald Dixon (Jr.), ready to go. So we’re sort of banged up a little bit all of a sudden.”

Suffice to say these are inopportune injuries if there ever were some.

Lattimore has 584 yards on the ground this season and 10 touchdowns. He missed roughly half of last year because of a knee injury.

Spurrier also said receivers Ace Sanders and Bruce Ellington have the flu and are questionable to play. Meanwhile, Florida is getting a handful of key players back this week, so things are already looking favorable for the Gators.
