APOregon and Arizona State weren’t the only college teams Thursday night; SMU put up 72 points on Houston in a high-scoring win as well.
In addition to losing the game (by 30 points no less), Houston lost its quarterback David Piland to concussion-like symptoms. SMU linebacker Taylor Reed knocked Piland to the ground on a hit in the second quarter.
A school spokesperson told the Houston Chronicle that Piland is currently day-to-day, but would not give other information. Houston’s next game is on Oct. 27 against UTEP.
Against the Mustangs, Piland threw for 180 yards and two interceptions. He has thrown for 2,264 yards on the season with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Gosh Houston was embarrassed by SMU.
