Duke, at 6-2, is going bowling for the first time since the 1995 Hall of Fame Bowl after meeting the minimum win total to become bowl eligible.
The Blue Devils did it in dramatic fashion in a 33-30 win over arch rival North Carolina, no less. With just 13 seconds remaining, quarterback Sean Renfree completed a pass to Jamison Crowder for the 5-yard score.
Crowder made a spectacular catch over a pair of Tar Heel defenders to haul in the winning grab. To pull a sentence from the “words you never thought you’d utter” file, Wallace Wade Stadium was erupting.
What’s more? Duke is also in control of its own destiny in the ACC Coastal Division.
Our vote for Coach of the Year has already been cast for Penn State’s Bill O’Brien, but perhaps there’s a little room for David Cutcliffe too.
Brian Kelly for COY?
ND finally has a good team when they get their pick of recruits every year does not merit COY. It merits ” That is what you are suppose to be”.
Duke will lose by 20 in bowl game!
Kyle Flood, Bill O’Brien, Frank Solich, David Cutcliffe, in that order, is how I personally feel right now. All have done great things this year
It really is Florida State and Clemson… then just a bunch of garbage in the ACC unfortunately. It would be hilarious to see Duke in the championship game against one of those two though.
Now, if Duke could just sneak into Tallywhacky and knock off the medicine men.
