Getty ImagesIt’s been a tough go for North Carolina State running back Mustafa Greene, but his time with the Wolfpack has come to an abrupt halt. Coach Tom O’Brien said after Saturday’s win over Maryland that Greene has been dismissed from the team. Redshirt freshman receiver Tyrell Burriss was also shown the door.
No specific reason was given. O’Brien only said the two were not champions in the classroom or on the football field.
“They’re not going to get the opportunity to play on this football team,” O’Brien said.
After leading the team in rushing his true freshman season in 2010, Greene missed the 2011 season due to a foot injury. Then, he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in mid-April and had academic issues during the offseason.
Must have failed some drug tests.
