Getty ImagesWhen Georgia takes the field Saturday for one of the biggest games of the Mark Richt era, the Bulldogs should have one of the top defensive players in the country in tow.
Linebacker Jarvis Jones sprained an ankle in the Oct. 6 loss to South Carolina and, after a bye weekend, missed this past Saturday’s close win over Kentucky due to the injury. Sunday, though, Richt seemed to like the chances of his All-American being available for the annual rivalry game with Florida this weekend.
“My hope’s that he’ll be able to practice as early as Monday, is what I hope. Whether or not that happens, I’m not sure,” the head coach said. “He’s definitely making progress, and I think there’s a very good chance he’ll play.
“But again, if he’s not healthy enough to go then we’re not gonna do it. But I think there’s a good chance he will.”
If the Gators win this weekend, they’ll clinch the SEC East and one of the two spots in the conference championship game. If the Bulldogs pull off the upset? UGA would need only to handle Ole Miss and Auburn — combined SEC wins this season: one — to claim its second consecutive divisional title.
Does it even matter? We’re going to lose by 3 touchdowns! I love Coach Richt but its time to move on..talent is not the problem, its coaching. We UGA fans aren’t excited about this game because we know a butt kickin’ is coming..Richt hasn’t beatin’ a good team since 2005…just sad.
Big game.. Should be a great game, hope both teams are at full strength…Go Gators
Could agree more…….My friend is an UGA fan and he hopes the Gators beat them to the point of embarrassment so as to get Richt out of there.
If that happens I see UGA, Auburn and Arkansas going after the same man–Charlie Strong. As Muschamp at Florida he is an ex DC and he has been “battle tested” in the SEC. Charlie was the Gators best recruiter and has solid connections in South Florida.
I think those UGA fans hoping for an embarrassing losss will get their wish. UGA’s O-line didn’t look that good against Kentucky or South Carolina and their D-line is getting worse by the game. Conversely Florida’s strength is their 2 lines and the solid depth they have there.
Gators win big 38 – 10
I have to agree superfbfan. It’s time for him to go.
No way they get Charlie Strong, this is his first good season at Louisville..My money is on Kirby Smart
?
Kirby Dumb would just be Richt with a different name. You don’t want that guy.
Personally, I hope this guy plays. I want the best both teams have to offer on the field and a well played game.
Go Gators
??
Hope the Dogs pull it out for USC’s sake.
Kirby Smart will be the next coach at Georgia.
