Getty ImagesIt’s been somewhat of a quiet season for Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins, especially given his breakout freshman campaign in 2011.
Watkins sat out the first two games of the season due to a suspension and missed another game because of an illness. In all, he’s third on the team in receiving yards and has zero receiving touchdowns.
He won’t get one tonight, either — at least not right away. A Clemson spokesperson confirmed to multiple media outlets that Watkins will not start, but will play, against the Demon Deacons because he was late to a Wednesday meeting.
Watkins had a slow game against Wake Forest last year — at least by his All-American standards — catching five passes for 62 yards.
It’s amazing how much more accountability and integrity the Clemson football program has compared to that of the University of South Carolina.
I’m right there with you buddy!
