Just last week, Idaho athletic director Rob Spear fired coach Robb Akey, making Akey the first coach to get the pink slip in this 2012 season. On Sunday, Idaho fired two more individuals — so to speak.
The university announced that starting quarterback and quarterback Dominique Blackman and linebacker Conrad Scheidt have been dismissed from the team for violating team rules. Tight end Taylor Elmo has also been suspended for violating athletic department policy.
In seven starts, Blackman has thrown for 1,600 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Scheidt started three games and has 23 total tackles on the season. Elmo had only two receptions on the year.
Idaho was off this past weekend and faces San Jose State this upcoming Saturday. At 1-7, the Vandals are already ineligible for a bowl game.
