Starting LB one of three Virginia players suspended

Mike London AP

Some bad news for Virginia this week. Coach Mike London announced Monday that starting linebacker Henry Coley, along with tight end Jeremiah Mathis and fullback LoVonte Battle, have been suspended for Saturday’s game against North Carolina State for a violation of team rules.

Of the three, Coley is the only real significant loss. The sophomore is fourth on the team with 40 tackles.

“We’ll see what happens with Henry when Henry comes back, but the signal is that a position that’s open now due to the circumstances that have occurred is wide open in terms of the competition. The best man up, the best man to step up and make it happen.”
