‘Day-to-day’ the status of Penn State’s second-leading receiver

As Penn State looks to rebound from its first loss since the second weekend of the season, the Nittany Lions could have one of their top targets in the passing game.

Or not.

Toward the end of PSU’s loss to Ohio State last Saturday, tight end Kyle Carter tweaked his left ankle and ended the game with a bag of ice wrapped around the injury. Tuesday, head coach Bill O’Brien labeled the freshman as “day-to-day,” indicating it’ll be a couple of days before any type of official determination is made as to his availability for the Purdue game this weekend.

“I’ll know better at the end of the week,” O’Brien said. “He seems to be doing okay.”

It should be noted that, back in September, O’Brien labeled Bill Beltonday-to-day” with an ankle injury that had already cost him a game; Belton went on to miss two more games after that declaration.

Carter, who is officially listed as probable on the latest injury report, is currently second on the team in receptions (35) and receiving yards (441).
