Top WR Amari Cooper should be ‘full speed’ for Tide

From playing at night in Death Valley to a powerful, multi-headed rushing attack, there are more than a couple of things for top-ranked Alabama to be concerned about headed into Saturday’s huge showdown with LSU that’s dripping with SEC and BcS implications.

Apparently, though, one of those things Nick Saban will be fretting over won’t involve the health of the Tide’s top receiver.

True freshman Amari Cooper suffered a sprained ankle in the blowout win over Mississippi State last Saturday, and subsequently missed a pair of practices because of the injury. During the weekly SEC coaches’ teleconference, Saban indicated the wide receiver should be a go when the Tide takes to the practice field Wednesday.

“Amari (Cooper) did some running yesterday and we are hopeful he will be full speed today,” Saban said.

That development coincides with Saban saying earlier in the week that he expected Cooper to play against the Tigers.

In his first year at the collegiate level after enrolling at UA early, Cooper leads the No. 1 team in the nation in receptions (32), receiving yards (472) and touchdown catches (five).
