Tweet: Sooner DB ‘no longer on suspension’

Quentin Hayes AP

Back in May, Quentin Hayes was one of four Oklahoma football players suspended indefinitely by the program.

Nearly six months later, one of the four has seen the suspension rescinded.  Reportedly.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account Thursday, the defensive back wrote that he is “[n]onger on suspension, #reinstated #thankgod.”  The school has yet to confirm Hayes’ announcement.

Hayes had his scholarship returned in August after it was stripped by head coach Bob Stoops in early June, but remained suspended indefinitely from playing in games.  Hayes, who played in eight games last season, was expected to fill a backup role at safety prior to his suspension.

Two of the four originally suspended — wide receivers Jaz Reynolds and Trey Franks — are still with the team but remain suspended.  The fourth, receiver Kameel Jackson, left for Louisiana-Monroe after he wasn’t given his scholarship back along with the other three due to academic issues.

I commend Stoops for doing what is right for his program in the long run. I guess it depends on what the “bygones” are as to whether to reinstate the player.

    Go Irish!

Too bad the season is almost over and there is no way Jaz and Trey will climb the depth chart. Shouldn’t have been a flat-billed-gangsta punks and went to class.

Hayes is needed because safety is super thin. I hope they have redshirt years left. Franks is fast but I could tackle him in space, and should move to defense and be a corner. Reynolds had a great season last year, but with Stills, Saunders, Metoyer. Shephard, Neal, Bester, and Woods possible back next year….add Courtney Gardner and Reynolds won’t see the field. He missed a great opportunity this year to make some money.

Blog Comments = Ramblings and loose correlations by those who have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.

An even better tweet – Austin Woods’ cancer is in remission.
