Season, UGA career over for Abry Jones

An injury that cost Georgia a defensive lineman the past two games will now cost the Bulldogs that player for the remainder of the year.

After simply being listed as “out of practice” on the Monday injury report, Abry Jones was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the 2012 by head coach Mark Richt on his radio show that night.

Jones aggravated a left ankle injury in the mid-October win over Kentucky, and the initial speculation was that Jones could miss the remainder of the season. It also means his collegiate career is over as well.

“He’s done for his senior year, and he’s not gonna play again for Georgia,” Richt said by way of the Macon Telegraph.

Jones, who played in seven games this season, is the second significant contributor lost to a season-ending injury in as many days. Sunday, Georgia announced that wide receiver Marlon Brown had suffered a collegiate-career-ending ACL tear.
