Irish WR to miss rest of regular season?

Notre Dame’s 10th straight win of the 2012 season could have come with a significant injury on the offensive side of the ball attached with it.

In the third quarter of the Irish’s 21-6 win over Boston CollegeDaVaris Daniels suffered an injury to his left shoulder and did not return.  According to the Chicago Tribune, the wide receiver’s arm was in a sling after the game.

And, according to Daniels’ father, the player could be sidelined for the next month or so.

“DaVaris will get healthy and be back for bowl game,” Daniels’ dad, former NFL defensive lineman Phillip Daniels, wrote on Twitter. “Headed to the hotel to order some things to help with the healing.”

The elder Daniels added that his son will be sidelined “for a little while.”  Interestingly, all of the tweets related to his son’s injury have since been deleted from his Twitter account.

All head coach Brian Kelly would allow in regards to Daniels’ injury is that a precautionary MRI was taken and the medical staff will “see where that is in the next 12 to 24 hours.”  An update on his status for next saturday’s game against Wake Forest and beyond will likely come early on in the week.

Daniels is currently third on the team in receiving yards (375) and fourth in receptions (25).  Both of those totals are second among Irish wide receivers.

Won’t play in Wake Forrest game, but I hope he’s back when we head to LA.

Relax, while good, the Irish have plenty of options at this position.

ND’s players like their fans have unreasonable expectations. They like their fans are mediocre. But ignorance is bliss they say.

Really, fnc111? Davaris is a loss, but there is plenty of talent – not to mention heart – on this team. The defense alone could stop a speeding train. They’ll be fine.
rsmeans, you just sound like a jerk; why are you even commenting if we’re so mediocre? Maybe you’re just ignorant.

It is sad that Davaris suffered that sort of injury. However, the Irish can carry on and hopefully even stronger in will and determination.
