If I were Coach Pelini, I wouldn’t take a chance on aggravating Burkhead’s healing injury, as the current “3″ running back rotation has done very well so far, and should be able to take care of business with both Minnesota & Iowa. Abdullah has been totally amazing, while Heard & Cross have more than proven their worth to the running game. I’d save Burkhead for Indianapolis and the B1G championship in three weeks (giving the Huskers a ‘full & healthy 4-man backfield’ to work with) when they have to meet Wisconsin again for a 2nd time this season. That will be a hand-full as they have also come along really well down the home stretch. Strategically, the Husker are well on their way to Pasadena, as long as they know what’s ahead of them these next two weeks & finish the job in Indianapolis, while sticking with Pelini’s ‘team-challenge’ to ‘finish the season’…I’m confident they’ll do it this time…STAY FOCUSED, GUYS!!!…& GO HUSKERS!!!

Save him for the Big 10 championship and Bowl game, unless Minnesota or Iowa open up a big lead on us, which they way we have been playing, is entirely possible.

Burkhead is a terrific player and a great young man, good student and does so much more than school and football. May he have a speedy recovery and whatever works out best for him. He has done a lot for Husker football but needs to take care of himself this time.
