Season-ending surgery for UGA’s Vasser

Suspended for the first two games of the season, Chase Vasser will see his 2012 come to an end for an entirely different reason.

Georgia announced Wednesday that the linebacker will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and will miss the remainder of the season. The surgery will be performed next Tuesday.

Vasser has missed the past three games because of the injury.

The junior started two of the five games in which he played this season. He started three games last season and was projected as a No. 1 outside LB coming out of spring practice.

However, a drunk-driving arrest in May led to the suspension and served as the beginning of would become a derailed 2012 season.
