The assistant coaches did what Kiffin wanted them to do. They followed his lead. he was their Role Model. I find it interesting that Kiffin took most of his assistants to USC and they tried to take TN recruits also. One assistant who Kiffin did not take or want was s brother in law (Reaves — I forgot the 1st name). He was heavily involved in the infractions and went to a university in New Mexico. Kiffin did not want him. Probably makes for interesting and exciting family reunions.

“secucks”, by your screen name it’s obvious that you’re nothing but a conference hater, which means normally no one would bother to respond to your worthless, biased posts… but I will.

I’ll do it in the form of a question though: are you stupid enough, or naive enough, or just plain learning impaired to think that an assistant would create that kind of relationship with an agent without the knowledge, if not outright blessing, of the head coach?

If you answer this ‘yes’, then you’re delusional, and your credibility is even worse than I thought. Might explain the rash of thumbs-downs you’ve gotten (and as I write this, not a single thumbs-up; what does that tell you?).

As much as I dislike Kiffin being a Tennessee grad, what he did is nothing compared to what Sandusky did to those kids and the higher ups starting with Joe Pa covered up.

I’m not saying this as a “Lane Kiffin hater”, I’m saying this generically: why don’t NCAA penalties follow the coach? If they want to ALSO apply to the school where the infractions took place, I’d have no problem with that, but it bothers me that a coach can move on to another program and leave all the dirt behind. To me, that’s just plain unfair. It gives the cheating coach/assistant/whoever an ‘easy out’, relatively speaking. If the sanctions followed them throughout their career, they might (emphasis on MIGHT) think twice about committing them, knowing that a prospective new employer would have to be willing to accept the baggage.

The NCAA has it all wrong. Penalties should be assessed on Kiffin and USC, not Tennessee. Those players and coaches are paying for his lack of sports ethics. Why any of these institutions would re-hire guys like that is beyond me. He is a poor example for young men on so many levels. Disgusting

CFT sensationalized headline to bring out the Kiffin haters. This was ancillary to the NCAA investigation previously conducted where Kiffin was not penalized. This involved an assistant coach NOT Kiffin. If the responses represent the Tennessee/SEC fan base, Kiffin was smart to run when he had the chance.

Absolutely– a coach or coaches, staff member or members should carry the penalty with them if they transfer to another school. That may give some ADs pause about hiring scum like Kiffen. I am not a big letter writer, but I may do like southernpatriots does, and write Emmert and the NCAA and strongly suggest a rule change. This is certainly a rule change is greatly needed.

delashmit: Just to let you know….”stairway” is a Paterno/Penn State apologist and is bitter that Penn State received any penalty for the horror that happened to children on their watch.

I agree absolutely. The NCAA should ban guilty coaches from coaching for life. Any boosters found guilty of rules infractions should be banned from all NCAA football games for life.

Leave the schools and innocent players alone. Punish the guilty hard, but limit the collateral damage.

What ever happened to common sense?
