Air Force win nets bowl invite

Hawaii Air Force Academy Football AP

Three down, 67 to go.

In the past two weeks, Navy (Kraft Fight Hunger) and BYU (San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia) have accepted invitations to one of the 35 bowl games that will be played this season.  Friday night, Air Force became the third.

Following the Falcons’ 21-7 win over Hawaii, their sixth of the season, the service academy received an invitation to the, appropriately enough, Armed Forces Bowl by the game’s executive director, who was in attendance last night.  Suffice to say, the Falcons quickly accepted the bid to the Fort Worth-based bowl.

“We didn’t expect what happened,”  linebacker Alex Means said of the invitation. “I’m so proud of these guys. We’re going bowling.”

Just who Air Force will be bowling against remains to be seen, although it will very likely be a team from Conference USA.

although I think there are too many bowl games, I am happy to see our service academies are going to play in these games
