PSU’s leading tackler carted off field with apparent knee injury

Big Ten football games aren’t off to a great start today. Michigan running back Fitz Toussaint had to be carted off the field early for what looks like a bad leg injury. At nearly the same time, Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti went down with an apparent knee injury against Indiana.

Mauti was unable to put any weight on his left knee and had to be carted off the field. He currently leads the team with 93 total tackles. He’s also first on the team with three interceptions and three forced fumbles. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway), but losing Mauti would be a tremendous blow to Penn State’s defense.

If nothing else, Mauti’s been an emotional leader for Penn State during the past year. To see him go down like that is awful.

The Nittany Lions defeated Indiana 45-22.
