Utah State knocks LaTech out of the BCS at-large hunt

Just as we bury the WAC thanks to conference realignment (which, unfortunately, isn’t dead yet), we will now bury Louisiana Tech’s BCS bowl hopes along with it.

That would be courtesy of Utah State. Despite the fact that the Aggies have been royally awful at closing out potential upsets, USU managed to knock the No. 19 Bulldogs out of a BCS at-large spot with a 48-41 overtime win.

The Bulldogs failed to convert on a fourth-down and Utah State will bring home the final WAC championship -- or, at least a share of it. The Aggies still have to play at Idaho next week.

At No. 20 in the BCS, Louisiana Tech needed to finish in the top 16 and ahead of the champion of a BCS conference to receive a bid to a BCS bowl. Those dreams are now long gone and the non-automatic qualifier group will not be represented in the BCS this year.

If was fun, Louisiana Tech. It really was. We still have the memories, though...
