Huskers clinch Legends division, spot in B1G title game vs. Badgers

Back in late September, Nebraska took care of some late-game business against Wisconsin, turning a 17-point second-half deficit into a 30-27 win.

Next weekend, the Badgers will officially be in position to exact some revenge.

After trailing for nearly 42 minutes against the hapless Hawkeyes, a Rex Burkhead touchdown run late in the third quarter was all the No. 17 Cornhuskers would need as they came away with an ugly 13-7 win at Kinnick Stadium. Ugly or not, it clinched the first-ever Legends division title for NU in its second season in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin, which clinched the Leaders division two weeks ago thanks to NCAA sanctions on Ohio State and Penn State, and Nebraska will now square off in the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis next weekend. It will mark the Badgers’ second consecutive appearance in the Big Ten title game.

The Huskers’ win also officially eliminated Michigan from contention in the Legends. Entering The Game with the Buckeyes Saturday, the Wolverines needed both a win over tOSU and a loss by Nebraska to clinch their first berth in the conference title game.
