Montee Ball breaks FBS record for most career touchdowns

Much of the focus on the game between Wisconsin and Penn State this afternoon will be on the Nittany Lions’ senior class because of the turbulent past year with the Jerry Sandusky scandal and subsequent NCAA sanctions. But Wisconsin running back Montee Ball wasn’t going to allow all the attention to be on one team.

Ball broke the Division 1-A record for most touchdowns in a college career (79) today with a 17-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The record was previously held by Travis Prentice of Miami (Ohio).

Congratulations to Ball, who has nearly 1,500 yards on the season and 18 rushing touchdowns.

Penn State would go on to win the game, however, 24-21.
