On the flip side of that, I don’t care what anybody says, two years is NOT enough to prove yourself. You’re still working with someone else’s players who were recruited to play in THAT system, not YOUR system. However, they are still athletes, and you should show SOME progress… not much, just SOME. First winless home season in “x” number of years doesn’t bode well amongst the donors to the program.

I don’t know Embree, nor do I know anything about him, as a coach or as a person. Was the firing the right call? I don’t know. It is what it is. To say it was race related though begs just one question: if his firing was race related, what was his HIRING? That’s the one question most closet-racists never ask. Sorry. End of rant.

I’ll try this again. I wish I wouldn’t have used that term. But, before you open you mouth and refuse to consider that I’m truly sorrow if I offended anyone. You might want to look at yourself and see if there some issues you may be harboring. And, concerning you state that I’m going to always side with African Americans. My vote in the last Presidential Election would say other wise. So, the real question may be what issues are you working with.

The point I am trying to make is that in order to truly have a color blind society African Americans need to be able to accept getting fired almost always has something more involved than just race. This firing doesn’t “look bad” and it wouldn’t “look bad” if he had been 6-6. It is what it is, the AD no longer wants to keep him under contract.

Mike Holmgren was just forced to resign 2.5 years into a job that he claimed at the beginning would take 5 years. True, the results have been bad, but you could make an argument that he was treated unfairly or even fired because he was fat. In reality, the new owner probably wanted to go in a different direction or maybe the new owner just didn’t like him.

I agree that 2 years is not enough to rebuild the program. However, I did not see enough from Embree in terms of game-day coaching to make me believe he was the answer – even if given more time. In this case, more time would have just delayed the inevitable.

Embree was fired because his teams were obviously not getting better and they were bad to start with. That he was black, white, polka dot, or green had ZERO to do with it.

But to wish his skin color had something to do with it…. what’s wrong with you?

I don’t think their losing was about lack of effort. I think it was lack of talent. And, a lack of talent keep be overcome by a desire to win. So, they have the right to say they hate to see their coach fired. They just didn’t have the talent to do anything about it

Not only bad, but actually got WORSE in Y2. Just can’t have that in college football. Sadly, the Buffs don’t have a lot of recruiting clout anymore, and Embree’s tenure didn’t help.

The Barnett era AD and Pres tried to kill the football program… and the last two years looked like they just about did.

Next hire needs to be ‘for real’.
