APWhat, you thought just because the 2012 season had run its course for Iowa that AIRBHG was going to take a break?
In the latest off-field misstep to hit Iowa’s running back position, which is not to be confused with the on-field injuries that have slammed headfirst into players at the position, Barkley Hill was arrested very early Saturday morning on a drunk-driving charge. The true freshman was spotted by a Cedar Hills police officer driving erratically at around 2 a.m. local time and was pulled over.
Following the stop, Hill was ultimately charged with operating while intoxicated.
As a result, Hill will be suspended for at least one game next season.
“I was disappointed to hear of the charges against Barkley,” said Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz in a statement. “Barkley will face a minimum one game suspension, as well as other consequences within the program.”
Hill did not see the field at all in 2012 because, naturally, he tore an ACL during summer camp this past August.
