First and foremost... 6-5 Baylor to the Cotton Bowl is the dumbest thing I've heard all day.

Now, A&M may not make it to the Cotton. I believe the Capital One has higher pick and will likely take the Aggies. Now the Cotton Bowl though has set a precedent in the past of not taking the best team available when they took the 9-3 Aggies in 2010 with the 10-2 OSU Pokes still available.

As far as the A&M v UT thing. Its a bit different now that we aren't in the same conference but the regional domination has seemed to swing back and forth for extended periods of time. The late 80's and 90's belonged to A&M and the 00's clearly belonged to UT. I feel that the pendulum is swinging back toward College Station though. 2 of the last 3 seasons A&M has been markedly better. It's going to be very hard for Texas to replace a Mack Brown who recruited better than anyone I've ever seen, but I saw this on twitter and it made a lot of sense... If you were a big time recruit in Texas, would you rather come play with Johnny Football or with Grandpa Mack?

What does Texas last playing in the Cotton Bowl have to do with anything? Hell, South Carolina played Ohio St two years in a row in the Outback Bowl. Who cares when last they played in a particular bowl game.

Texas lost to TCU on Thanksgiving Day at your stadium. Got beat by West Va at your stadium. Got destroyed by Oklahoma in Dallas 63-21! Those three losses translate to not being worthy in my estimation. If you read my post carefully, I also said that Texas may be selected to play in the Cotton Bowl because of the TV audience and money. Let's face it: Texas despises aTm and visa-versa. That makes for a slug-fest with tremendous TV ratings. My only statement was that IMO I did not think Texas worthy of that spot! Baylor beat the then #1 team in the nation. Shouldn't they be considered? Yes, there I go again MAKING SENSE!

there you go again gamecocker....who is UT jealous of? and Im not sure I understand why they are not deserving of a cotton bowl bid, being the third place team in the big 12 right now....

kansas state has the inside track for the bcs, only needing to beat UT or have OU lose to TCU before they take the field on saturday night.

if OU losses, then the cotton will have their pick of the litter between OU and UT to play either A&M, Alabama or LSU in the cotton bowl...

Oklahoma St will not be picked over UT, OU or K-state, all teams they lost to in the regular season.

.K-state played there last year, losing to Arkansas, A&M was the big12 rep in 2010, losing to LSU, and Oklahoma st played 2009, losing to Ole Miss

Texas last played in the cotton bowl at the end of the 2003 season, beating LSU 35-20. OU last played there at the end of the 2002 season, beating Arkansas 13-3.

Bonfire85,
Maybe I detect a little trepidation if A&M would have to face their down and out rivals. Might make for a he'll of a game one way or the other. Aggies can either say " we kicked their butts good" or "Oops, maybe we weren't as good as we think we are.

Ps, I have always leaned toward the Aggies since the 1964 ( I believe) debacle when the refs handed the Horns the nation Championship by screwing A&M.

I would just think Aggies would love a chance to blow the horns out. But obviously you all have moved on to the future.

I dont understand what you mean bonfire85 "you cant help but laugh at the big12 we Aggies left behind?"...you mean that same big 12 that you guys finished in 7th place last year at 6-6 and 7-6 overall after the Aggies Houston bowl win over Northwestern, the Aggies first bowl win since 2001(vs TCU in Houston) ?

you mean that same big 12 where 10 of the 16 football seasons, you Aggies finished at 7-5 or worse(including three 6-6 years, and four losing seasons)? that same big 12 that you guys only won 10 games or more ONCE, in 1998, the year yall upset Kansas St in the big 12 title game and went to your only BCS bowl? Just wonderin who is laughing at whom?

your run in the sec this year has been amazing. I give you that. this is quite possibly the best season in the history of aTm, outside of the one title they won right before WWII.

..at the beginning of the year, I thought you would do no better than 7-5 with losses to Alabama, Florida, Auburn, LSU and Arkansas. But Auburn and Arkansas took the year off and played the role of the vandy and kentucky II, but you still handled them with ease. the win on the road against #1 Alabama, who Steve Spurrier said could beat an nfl team, was the greatest win in school history, considering the odds stacked against you.

your 10-2 season is your best since the Aggies went 11-3 in 1998....you will have a possible heisman trophy winner in on Dec 8 in Johnny Manziel....you guys should enjoy your banner season and not be concerned about the inlaws you divorced, because no one left in the big 12 is worried about you.

if the aggies and UT happen to lock horns in bowl season, we will see who will get "sawed off" and we can talk all the smack at that time, but its possible the Aggies could be heading to Orlando or Atlanta instead of Arlington..

dinklespiel,
If the Aggies do end up playing t.u. in the Cotton bowl, I hope you dont take the ass woopin' personally. We have moved on to bigger and better things. Enjoy your big12 thanksgivings in Austin this year and every year... you deserve them, and so do the big12 lap dogs as they make their way to Austin every year.

Does it really matter at this point who starts? The next great QB for Texas probably isn't on campus. I have brothers and a sister that graduated from Texas, my Aggie bias aside neither of these guys instill confidence in any of us. McCoy has that "deer in the headlights" look and doesn't possess the arm that Ash does. With Ash you never know who will show up. While I see a lot of A&M/Texas predictions for the Cotton Bowl, Texas doesn't deserve to play us.
