.Yes, I could make the same argument about Harvard and Louisville on a per-student basis. Yes, the SAT scores are higher for the average Harvard student. But if you take the top students at Louisville and those at Harvard, the scores would not differ that much. A 800 in English or Math at Louisville is the same score at Harvard. You’re painting yourself as an elitist….that’s not nice!

Perception is reality and Louisville has a superior football program and basketball program than UConn. Both schools are considered average academically. Frankly if one applies oneself, he can obtain a first rate education at any college or university in this country. Just because UConn is located in New England does not make it an elite university. BC is an “island” in the ACC and that is exactly what UConn would become. You don’t want to be under the thumb of John Swofford and the NC power structure. You will be miserable. UConn is a charter member of the Big East in football and basketball. Once UMass enters the Big East, it will make for a great basketball conference again. My point is UConn should remain in the Big East and not worry about joining the ACC. You’re fine where you are at.

Where do we start with this one.

(1), there is no longer a Big East as we know it. Swofford has systematically picked off the football/basketball schools in order of preference. UConn’s geographic home is now the ACC.

(2) that’s a specious argument in trying to find academic equivalence between UConn and Louisville. I suppose you could make the same argument between Harvard and Louisville.

(3) Louisville’s superior football program lost at home to UConn four days ago. They do attract more fans. UConn has a bigger tv market and a higher upside and established rivalries in the ACC.

(4) The way Louisville gets in is if FSU and Clemson give the ACC an ultimatum saying they will bolt for the Big 12 unless it’s Louisville over UConn. That is Louisville’s only path to the ACC which cuts off UConn.

The ACC should split into two divisions with the former Big East schools (Miami, VA Tech, BC, Syracuse, Pitt, UConn) and Virgina in the North and the others (UNC, NC State, GT, Clemson, WF, Duke, and FSU) in the South. For hoops, ND goes in the north with its traditional rivals.
For what it’s worth, I don’t like UConn. They sued the ACC and were hypocrites right up to the end. But the ACC appears to be a natural home for UConn right now. It is the ATLANTIC coast conference and not a mideast conference.

I am just curious as to where you get your information from. Louisville is nowhere near equal to UCONN academically. UCONN is top 70 and Louisville is 160 and Cincy is 139. Louisville would be the worst academic institution in the ACC by a long shot. Worst ACC school currently is NC State at 109. Not to mention they did not let West Virginia in because of their academics and they are 165. Cincy stadium only holds 35,000 where both Louisville and UCONN hold more. I know UCONN’s stadium was designed to be easily expanded.

Not sure how you figure both the basketball programs are equal to UCONN either. Last I checked neither school has won a national championship in the past 20 years. And its funny you mention the probation because Louisville football lost scholarships this year because of their APR scores. Football does not get banned from Bowls for low APRs.

No they are not better off without Maryland. That is just the stupidest thing I’ve read all day. You must be a UConn “homer”. UConn brings far less than either Louisville or Cincy. Their football program leaves much to be desired and the basketball program is on probation. That is the last issue the ACC wants to deal with. Louisville brings better football and basketball and equal academics than UConn. UConn is a renegade school who has athletes but no scholars
