I’m far from an Irish fan, but they beat you in your house with an amazing goal line stand. Domers (as unbearable as they can be) have a right to say what they want.

Lane can thank his Dad for taking the rap this year, but not next year. He will need to joint the pro ranks after next season too. And that will be good for USC.

It isn’t always the coach, who is at fault. It could be the ‘so called high caliber’, player(s) who was/were recruited. Too many ego’s on a ‘team’, reduces the ability to play, as a team. The individual(coach), who brings the player on board, contributes to all the failure, and well as any success.

Good riddance to Monte Kiffin and his worthless Tampon 2 defense. Now USC has a chance to bring in a real defensive guru. I just hope the Raiders don’t sign this clown.

Lane made his share of mistakes this year but the defense has been horrible under Monte. Monte had to go but it would also be nice to see Lane give up the play calling duties.

This has nothing to do with Lane letting his dad take the fall as Normtide alludes too. Anybody who watched USC on a regular basis knows the DC needed to go regardless of his relationship. It would also be nice if they also need to start tackling in practice.

If Lane doesn’t get it turned around he will also be gone. The boosters are no going to allow this program to turn into FSU. (Win the office season recruiting and lose during the regular season).

It is a much longer list of NFL to college washouts than college to NFL washouts. Kiffin’s NFL stuff doesn’t work in college, esp vs a mobile QB, something the NFL will accept sooner or later, kicking and screaming.

On paper everyone said the Defensive talent was superior, has anyone ever thought maybe that talent just wasn’t very good this year. I know Monte is getting old and has probably forgot more football then most of us combined, but really, he wasn’t the problem. What I saw on the field was a Defensive group that lacked interest and heart, and every game they fell behind, they did nothing as a unit to get themselves back on trac.

Sure Monte can take the sword this year for his son, but the problem is far from being taken care of.

I think it was needed. I have nothing but respect for Monte, but his system simply does not seem to work against spread offenses. I felt like the defense rarely if ever made in game adjustments this season, and if they did they didn’t work. Obviously there are other issues we need to fix but I think it was time to part ways. I hope he joins the 49ers staff.

I think Monte knows that he needs to let Lane succeed or fail.

I do find it funny SC fan is all over firing Lane, when he’s having to work through the scholarship and bowl stuff from Pete Carroll.

We would have to crash and burn together. Maybe it was a case of dad falling on the sword to save his son, Monte is by far the classy one of the two. I pray I never heart that lane had a choice, his father goes out he does. Just for my hope on humanity, I guess.

Scarily enough man, while I hated Lane Kiffin even when he was at UT, I always kind of liked Monte. The epitomy of an old-school football coach who would rather eat his own hat than allow positive yardage.

Only negative thing I can really say about Monte is that he is Lane Kiffins father.
