"Klein’s performance on senior night was good enough to keep him in the Heisman conversation, but it wasn’t the season-ending statement that could have launched him back atop the conversation. Even at the end of the year, the Heisman discussion has plenty of worthy candidates and no clear-cut frontrunner. Texas A&M quarterback Jonny Manziel is the presumed frontrunner, but this Heisman race should be a close one."

______________

The problem with Heisman speculation is that there's this crazy expectation that guys can play absolutely perfectly like a machine. Didn't Klien lead them to TDs on something like 5 straight drives in the second half?

I'd guess that among the actual Heisman voters Klein may be the front runner because: 1) He's not a defensive player (who are almost always passed over) 2) His team is near the top largely due to his individual efforts. And 3) He isn't a freshman. Manziel is a good pick (and a very similar candidate to Klein), but Heisman voters don't tend to like laying the groundwork for giving the award multiple times to the same guy. And Klein has played more top teams and played better against them than Manziel.

Texas consistently does less with more.

Texas has averaged a #6 ranking in Rivals on recruiting classes since 2005. Texas passed on Drew Brees and Johnny Football as QB because they didn't fit the prototype that Texas deems worthy.

Last evening, The commentators stated Texas is very
young with only 9 seniors. Conversely, KSU had
27 seniors. You win with seniors and fifth year seniors, not freshmen and McDonald All-Americans.

Mack chews up players and spits them out.

Texas doesn't deserve to play in the Cotton Bowl. They should be grateful if the Alamo Bowl calls. I miss them being a premier program, now a mediocre year is their best in a few seasons.

You know, it says something about how dominant Klein has been that he can average 13.1 YPA against the 18th ranked team in the country and it is merely considered "good enough".
