as a USC fan, I’m glad that it is Stanford in the Rose Bowl instead of UCLA. Good luck to Stanford in the Rose Bowl, represent the Pac-12 well!

i agree with Irishking above – Stanford has come out from being a Cupcake to a competitive team. Hogan is just learning – he depended on his defense and Taylor. Once the defense and Taylor graduate, then it will be a one or two man band there, just like the Cardinal masked themselves for the last two years – LUCK was the one man band. I think that Shaw would be better suited for the USC job. Now that Pop Kiffin is gone, son Lane could use a lot of help to rebuild the defense.

Strongly diagree! Stanford has never been considered a “cupcake” in any sport. They have always been competitive in all sports. Yes, there have been some years much better than others. But Stanford is a QB factory starting with Jim Plunkett (and probably before him), Elway, etc. Great school in many, many ways! Any place former Sec’y. of State Rice goes has to be a great place!

More like David Shaw staying right where he is at idyllic, beautiful, wonderful Palo Alto. Someimes, it’s better to love where you live and love where you work. Stanford and Palo Alto provides those qualities for Coach Shaw. He makes enough money to live a grand life-style so another couple of million aren’t that important.
