TU running back Alex Singleton hurdled over a goal-line pile for a 1-yard touchdown run to give his team the 33-27 win in overtime. Singleton finished with 100 yards on the game and a pair of scores. He was one of two running backs for Tulsa, along with Trey Watts, to rush for over 100 yards. Nebraska transfer Cody Green threw for another 153 yards and a score.
It was Tulsa’s fourth C-USA championship game appearance but only the program’s second title. Tulsa will now go on to play in the Liberty Bowl against a to-be-determined SEC opponent while UCF will play in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s St. Petersburg Bowl against a Big East opponent.
Tulsa finishes with a 10-win season for the second time in three years. UCF, at 9-4, can get to 10 wins with a bowl victory.
