Getty ImagesOr, rooting for Kansas State to lose. However the Sooners want to look at it.
But the outcome is the same. Oklahoma needs the Longhorns to beat the Wildcats later tonight to win the Big 12 conference outright and earn a berth to the BCS. The No. 12 Sooners were able to fend off a feisty TCU team and come away with a 24-17 win on the road in Forth Worth. It’s the eighth Big 12 title for OU, but it could be the first the Sooners have to share.
All things were fairly even between the Sooners and the Horned Frogs, but officials called a 32-yard field goal attempt by TCU’s Jaden Oberkrom‘s wide left in the fourth quarter even though the ball looked like it slipped just inside the upright as it went over the crossbar. But, the play was non-reviewable. and Oklahoma held on to a 10-point lead. Then again, Oklahoma’s Michael Hunnicutt missed a 42-yard field goal shortly thereafter that would have iced the game.
Oklahoma should be going to a BCS bowl regardless of whether K-State wins tonight or not, but for the sake of winning the Big 12 outright and locking down that berth, the Sooners should be considering themselves Longhorns today.
Or, not.
