I don’t know how you can rank schools academically. Many large, public universities have open admissions. All rankings have to be subjective here.

So does strength of schedule matter or just the record?

ISU was rated #2 and #3 for SOS preseason in a couple of different places.
Bama – 25
Georgia – 48
Cincy – 69
Rutgers – 70
Tulsa – 88
Kent State – 116
NIU – 122

So I guess you are saying what I have always said, we should stop playing tough scheuldes and just play cup cakes because in the end no one cares. People look at ISU and look at 6-6 and say they don’t deserve to be there… I won’t tell you they do or don’t but a blamket statement that a 6-6 team doesn’t deserve to be there tells me you don’t care who they played you only care what the record is.

Beef O Brady? Belk? Buffalo Wild Wings? Yea, right. Just as bad as the old Poulan Weedeater Bowl. Would anyone really miss those bowls if they disappeared? I think not.

I can’t speak for the other 6 – 6 teams in this list and who they are playing, but look at the schedules of Iowa State (Yes, that is what clonefan means) and Tulsa and you will see two things.

First – They already played once this year and ISU won.

Second – ISU had a much tougher schedule. Rated as one of the 5 toughest in the nation.

Now, will it be a good game and who will win? I don’t know. Obviously I am cheering for ISU and I hope they win again. I would prefer not to have a rematch, but it is what it is…

Vanderbilt ranks well above ACC schools, as do Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M. Those schools rank above half the Big 10. Alabama, Auburn, and Missouri rank well above Tennessee, so I’m not sure why you think UT is such a stellar academic school. Mississippi State is the lowest-ranked school in the SEC.

SEC schools are fine academic schools for those pursuing academic careers. And they’re stellar athletic schools for those pursuing athletic careers. Since we don’t require academic scholars to run a 4.4 40, I see no reason why we should require those on athletic scholarships to meet the same requirements as academic scholars when their goal is to pursue an athletic career.

That 57% at South Carolina is a generous number when you consider that 75% of the players have hotel management as a major and even fewer actually know where classrooms are. The reading list at SC for Honors English include two of the “Goosebump” and a “Magic Tree house” book(s).

However, don’t be so quick to damn the SEC education as Vanderbuilt, UT, and UF rank right up there with ACC schools for quality education. Unfortunately you used one of the two easiest schools to get into the SEC as only Ole Miss has lower academic standards than South Carolina for admission.

Hands down, no question. LI Medium reruns may be more exiting than this game will be.

You could probably make an argument against the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando having Vtech and Rutgers being out of zone, but that’s good vacationing if you got a couple kids to Disneyworld.

Sun Bowl? That’s the loser game. USC and GTech are like 1500 miles from El Paso. And a crummy season, who the heck is going to go to El Paso to watch this game? There will be like 10,000 locals at this game and no Game atmosphere.

Def. Rice vs air force. Quick name your favorite three rice owls? Anybody….

USC is playing so crappy, and GT had a great showing aginst FSU….that one could be interesting.

I have to say that I could care less, if Iowa State and Tulsa cancel the game.
