Mon., Dec. 31 – Noon ET, ESPN
Nashville, Tenn. – LP Field
It’s a tale of two coaches – one interim, the other staying a while.
N.C. State (7-5) will be led by interim coach Dana Bible, stepping in for the fired Tom O’Brien. Meanwhile, new coach Dave Doeren, formerly of Northern Illinois, already is on hand and his charge is recruiting.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt (8-4) has made back-to-back bowl games for the first time in its history. Even though the Commodores won’t leave the city limits of Nashville, it’s still a very special occasion.
Commodores coach James Franklin, who could’ve moved on to another school perhaps, signed a contract extension. Vanderbilt has quality football and stability. What a concept.
We’re going with stability.
Opening point spread: Vanderbilt by 5
The pick: Vanderbilt 24, N.C. State 17

Vanderbilt, a stabile football program? What a novel and welcome thought. Kudos to Coach Franklin. He is working to achieve not only excellence on the field but appreciation and excellence for the academics of the players to treasure an education and degree from Vanderbilt which few of the players otherwise would have had the opportunity for (as southernpatriots posted previously).
Joey: I agree with your pick and score.
any one know of any team with a WINNING record that vanderbilt has beaten in the last year. 2 years , 3 years 4years. i heard he voted is team at 16th. there should be a rule that your team must beat at least 1 team with a winning record. last year they had to beat a fcs team to be bowl elegible. dont say miss, 6-6 aint a winning record
