I believe ‘Bama had to vacate some wins not too long ago, but it didn’t affect LSU’s record.

Makes sense to me.

A great hire for the Bearcats. Tuberville is rock solid and made his bones in the SEC. He doesn’t have to prove anything to anybody. Texas Tech stupidly ran off one outstanding HC in Mike Leach, and have now done it again. And UC finally gets a coach who knows defense and won’t be looking for the next step up on the coaching ladder. I wonder how the clowns in Knoxville feel now after settling for Butch Jones when they could have hired a proven SEC winner in Tommy Tuberville. UC certainly got the better coach. Good for them. Good for Coach T.

Petrino did win the Sugar Bowl, beating tOSU, but not on the field.

One of my physicians, an Auburn grad, told me during T’s last year, it appeared to him that he had significant back pain, but he seemed to leave that on the Plains.

UC had to know exactly what was going on with Coach Jones to have moved so quickly in hiring Tuberville.

And here’s a shout out to Butch Jones for never lying about interviewing for other positions. Jones said he wasn’t taking the Colorado job, and he was honest; nobody asked him about Tennessee.

UC and my alma mater Xavier may be heated rivals in all other sports, but since X dropped football nearly 40 years ago (may the school President who supported that move continue to rot in Hell), I’m a UC fan in football. Good luck, Coach Jones, and welcome, Coach Tuberville.

Tuberville’s days were numbered when he slapped the assistant. That being said, are we seeing the demise of the Big 12? Gundy looking for greener pastures in the SEC and not getting the Tennessee job. Tuberville taking a step down to a school that very well may be in the Big12? UT President Powers giving a vote of confidence to Mack Brown when he knows full well that the hiring and firing is done by Deloss?

The Big 12 sure doesn’t act like a national conference.

While this move was a surprise, I don’t think it’s a total shock either. TTU never seemed to fully warmup to him, and he did not seem like a very happy guy this year either.

Easier for Tubbs to get to a BCS game at Cincinnati than at Tech. @gamecocker….Bobby Knight is a “Hall of Fame person”? I guess if you’re talking about the “Complete Jackass Hall of Fame” or the “Beligerant Blow Hard Hall of Fame” your assessment would be correct.

Bobby Knight was an excellent coach and Tech was lucky to have him! You either respect the way he runs a program or you hate the guy. That’s just the way it is with some coaches. I respect the hell out of Bobby Knight and would have loved for any son of mine to play under him. He makes MEN out of boys. Every one is entitled to their opinion about Coach Knight but to me, he is a Hall of Fame coach and Hall of Fame PERSON.

just remember that Texas Tech is who hired Bobby Knight after his various acts of stupidity, so I wouldn’t rule out Petrino entirely….or Butch Davis.

For those wondering why Tuberville would leave, it’s not exactly mysterious. He was going to be on the hot seat next year after 3 seasons of inconsistent mediocrity. Seth Doege isn’t coming back, so the chances of Texas Tech having a good season next year are slim to none, which likely leaves Tommy without a job at that point. With that in mind, moving to a new opportunity now makes a lot of sense in terms of job security.

I think it is important for the fans to note the negative comments appearing on this blog are not directed at you. Rather they are directed at the bone head administration that fired Coach Leach. Tech had a sword-swinging pirate for a coach and dumped him to satisfy an ESPN diva who played in the most corrupt football program on record. Or maybe you just dumped him over the money. Whatever … your program hasn’t been relevant since. Now even Tubby has left you for the Big East. Maybe he thinks it will be a stepping stone back to the SEC. Who knows? What goes around …

yeah but even his ability to coach is clouded.

He did great at Louisville but did he really do anything more than other guys do at a mid-major school? Chris Petersen has done far more but has the same amount of trophies to show for it.

He was terrible at Atlanta.

He did have Arkansas winning and doing well, which is to his credit for sure. But how about them this year? Sure he was fired before the year started and that’s tough but they weren’t just a team without a leader, they were bad. Got humiliated against Alabama. I remember watching that game, and thinking there’s no way losing Petrino set them that far back to lose that badly.

He is a good coach, but he gets lumped in with a lot of the best coaches, but he hasn’t won anything major.
