Colorado officially tabs SJSU’s MacIntyre as new coach

Mike MacIntyre AP

Mike MacIntyre led one of the more dramatic turnarounds in college football beginning in 2010 when he took over San Jose State. In three seasons, the Spartans went from a one-win team to a 10-win team. Now, MacIntyre will be asked to orchestrate a major turnaround at another program.

Following up on reports from Monday, Colorado announced that MacIntyre would be the Buffs’ 25th head coach. It’s not yet clear if MacIntyre will coach SJSU in its bowl game.

You can watch MacIntyre’s press conference HEREwhich will be at 6 p.m. ET.

Colorado fired Jon Embree after two years and was reportedly quite interested in Cincinnati’s Butch Jones. Jones eventually became the head coach at Tennessee.

Colorado hasn’t had a winning season since 2005.

The good coach had better first instill some hard discipline,
to a team that sat around smoking, and “joking”, all of
    last year.

Now, all they need to do is hire someone with the name of Mary Joe Wana as their recruiting director.

The problem with CU is not football, rather the school is a liberal mess full of acid heads and orgies. On top of that (no pun intended), they hire another “no name” small college coach. If they truly want to win again, they need to clamp down on the drug infested hippie scene and actually pay a coach some money…Oh, sorry; they are broke.

    Give us a break 110f…

The problem with CU is they haven’t had a serious coach in a decade and the program has been a JOKE since the Barnett era.

Nebraska stopped playing the Buffs since it was such a cream puff game with ZERO competition.

As soon as they announced Embree… serious football fans around the country… white, black, red, whatever… knew the Buffs could expect the same ole same ole in Boulder.

Decent guy… not even remotely HC material.

Will M2 be able to turn it around? Frankly, he couldn’t do any worse than Embree’s backfalling.
I mean… at least get ONE game better, right?

Wish the guy the best but his job is going to be incredibly hard.

Looks like the Buffs will be stuck in a wadi for a couple more years with this hire.

Talk about being selfish and uncaring. SJSU gives MacIntyre a chance to be a head coach, leads them to a 10-2 record and bowl bound in years, then abruptly leaves before the bowl game. You couldn’t tell Colorado to at least wait until after the game? Another two weeks wasn’t going to affect their recruiting plans. Thanks for nothing MacIntyre. I wish nothing but the worst for you. And beware Colorado! MacIntyre has now proven he will bail on you for a better offer!
