Passing on Mike Leach: BIG MISTAKE BY MANY, MANY SCHOOLS. The guy is fun and his offense is tremendous. He cares about education and will ultimately make Wazzoouu big time again. He would have done miracles at Maryland too. He's that good!

While I would agree that the grass is not always greener, I would say that the Maryland job is without a doubt a better job than UCONN. For one, it's in a better conference. Slightly, but the ACC is better than the Conference US... I mean the Big East. Also, with the creator of Under Armor as an alum, there is a real source of money for the program. Thirdly, Maryland has a better base of talent to recruit from. The northeast might as well be Siberia as far as big time football talent is concerned. Maryland has access to D.C. and sits between two states, Virginia and Pennsylvania that have a decent amount of talent.

It's hard to begrudge a coach for leaving for a better job. Something any one of us would do. It isn't hard to begrudge two things though. The way Edsall left UCONN was gutless. For his players to find out he was leaving through text message and family members is disgusting and shows his true character. That should have been an in person meeting. The second thing to begrudge is Maryland's decision to hire Edsall in the first place. They fired Friedgen because of a lack of enthusiam for the football program. Obviously the answer then is to pass on Mike Leach and hire Randy Edsall. What? Because watching UCONN football was exhilarating? Let's be honest. If you're replacing Ralph Friedgen with Randy Edsall, what's the point?

Rutgers picked up a tremendous Grad Student O-Lineman from Maryland last year, Mr. Dill. He went on to becomes All-Big East selection this past season. Now if they have another lineman who wants out, send him to Rutgers. This last pick-up was tremendous. Going into the B1G takes some of the pressure off of Edsall. What a yutz for leaving UCONN. Hey Coach, the grass is not always greener.
