I think it’s fair to question whether the SEC is really the best conference in the country this year.

I won’t be watching the championship game between the two most despicable college football programs ever. That will be two years in a row that I skip this worthless BCS garbage.

Mr. Taylor needs to educate himself before he begins to question the integrity of the SEC Commissioner, Mike Slive and the SEC in general. He does a disservice not only to the SEC but also to his readers, who would like to assume that someone, given such a large national forum, might know what he is talking about.

That’s exactly my point. What Mathieu did was infinitely more dangerous than the Dial hit. Mathieu’s hit knocked Kirkpatrick from the game with a concussion. No injury occured on the Dial hit–the player jumped up from the carpet immediately. Neither the SEC nor the NCAA handed down any punishment for the Mathieu hit–they left discipline to the team. But when the NCAA makes exactly the same ruling for Dial, LSU fans rant that Alabama-grad Shaw is showing favoritism to Alabama and giving Dial special treatment.

I’m tired of hearing Alabama is getting a pass when our players receive EXACTLY the same ruling other teams’ players received in similar circumstances. I realize some people are going to whine about Alabama no matter what. But you don’t trash Alabama and Shaw’s reputation, and declare bias when there is absolutely no rational reason to do so. Enough already.

Should it have been flagged? Probably. But the helmet-to-helmet was a glancing blow off the facemask, not a direct hit to the head, and Murray certainly did not show any ill effects afterwards. Even if it were flagged, considering the Tide got to around the Georgia 5-yardline and kicked a FG to end the half, it’s certainly reasonable to assume ‘Bama would have kicked the figgie from the 20 with all other things being equal. In other words, it didn’t affect the outcome. Now stop blubbering about it and cooking up conspiracy theories just because it makes you feel good to think that ‘Bama can only succeed in anything because the SEC allows them to.

Oh, and foreverlsu: Stop crying over the schedule. Alabama plays Tennessee EVERY YEAR; the league didn’t just put them together next season because the Vols sucked. Were you whining likewise when you were “forced” to play Florida in 2010 and 2011 when they were just a .500 team? And where were you at two seasons ago when the SEC have six of the Tide’s eight league opponents a bye week before playing ‘Bama? Were you crying about the unfairness of the schedule then?

But remember … the NCAA cracked down THIS YEAR on dirty hits. So it was A-OKAY that just last season neither the NCAA nor the SEC handed down ANY punishment to Tyrann Mathieu for a dirty hit that knocked Dre Kirkpatrick out of the game and sent him to the hospital with a concussion. THIS YEAR, the NCAA and SEC have made EXACTLY the same ruling on Quinton Dial–a player who does not have Mathieu’s 2011 prior team disciplinary history of drug use and who did not knock a kid out of the game with a head injury. But since Shaw gave Bama the SAME ruling he gave LSU because he is a BAMA GRAD and the whole thing is biased and rigged.

If you think otherwise, clearly you are an insane Bama homer.

Oh … so I’m insane for thinking Shaw should let the coaches decide the punishment for the Bama player. But YOU are unbiased for thinking Shaw should let the coaches decide the punishment for the LSU player. Shaw didn’t give Mathieu ANY suspension. And you know it.

Many players have walked off the field and later been diagnosed with a concussion at the hospital. So as I said, Mathieu knocked Kirkpatrick out of the game with a concussion and received NO PUNISHMENT or from Shaw and the NCAA.

You’re just not man enough to admit that Mathieu walked away with NO NCAA or SEC punishment for inflicting a more serious hit and own up that SHAW HAS TREATED DIAL EXACTLY AS HE TREATED MATHIEU.
