And somewhere, Ben silently sheds a tear for his alma mater. Or giggling uncontrollably. One of the two.
Regardless, two members of the North Texas football team stepped into a little legal hot water Thursday afternoon. According to the Denton Chronicle, redshirt freshman running back Antoinne Jimmerson and sophomore cornerback Freddie Warner were arrested and slapped with a theft charge.
Essentially, the two are accused of lifting clothes from a local department store. From the paper:
According to the police report, an employee at a department store in the Golden Triangle Mall in Denton observed two men putting clothing into backpacks on a security video. Both allegedly left the store without paying for the items, which had an estimated value of between $50 and $500.
The school has not decided what if any punitive measures will be taken against the two players.
Jimmerson led the Mean Green with eight total touchdowns — five rushing, three receiving — and his 544 yards were good for second on the team. Warner’s season ended prematurely after suffering a broken foot in the third game of the year.
