Tulane’s Devon Walker gets a break from rehab to head home for the holidays

How about a Devon Walker update?

The Tulane safety has been in a rehabilitation center for the past few months recovering from a horrific spinal injury he sustained while making a tackle in a game against Tulsa toward the beginning of the season. Although Walker is in good spirits, he is still immobile. But he is able to take a break from his rehab efforts to spend some time with his family for the holidays.

Tulane released a statement Monday from Walker, which you can read below.

“I am so happy to be going home where I can reunite with my family and friends,” Walker said. “My family and I are very grateful for the support we continue to receive. Some days, when I think that I just can’t do this anymore, remembering my many friends and supporters (both old and new) who are praying for me gives me the strength to go on. I know that my fight is just beginning. Please continue to pray for my recovery. Thank you very much.”

Walker had 11 tackles in the two games he played this season.
