There is, unfortunately, some heartwrenching news reportedly involving Arizona State running back Marion Grice during the holiday season.
Per Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic, Grice has returned home to join his family for what a team spokesperson is calling “personal reasons.” However, Haller notes in his blog that Grice’s brother was reportedly shot and killed during a robbery on Friday.
3TV Sports is reporting that a man was shot in the head when two burglars demanded a pair of recently-purchased Air Jordan shoes. The victim, believed to be Grice’s brother, lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed it into the side of a house. While the victim is only reported to be Grice’s brother, several ASU teammates took to their Twitter accounts to send their condolences to Grice.
Haller later confirmed that Grice will be back for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Navy on Dec. 29. You can see Todd Graham’s comments on the situation HERE at about the 2:45 mark.
Grice is the team’s second-leading rusher with 520 yards and its fourth-leading receiver with 406 yards. He leads the team with 17 touchdowns.
