So far, most of this year’s bowl games have been relatively exciting. That wasn’t quite the case with the Russell Athletic Bowl between Rutgers and Virginia Tech.
The game featured more punts (21) than Virginia Tech had rushing yards (4), yet the Hokies were able to come back from a 10-0 deficit to beat Rutgers in overtime 13-10. Virginia Tech avoids a losing season since 1992 and Rutgers fails to secure its third 10-win season in history.
Neither Logan Thomas nor Gary Nova was able to complete 50 percent of their passes and combined for three interceptions. In fact, the Scarlet Knights’ only touchdown came on a defensive forced fumble in the end zone on VT’s first drive of the game.
Yeah, ugly.
So rather than try to recap one of the single worst games of the bowl season thus far, we’ve decided to pass off that job to someone who can paint the picture far more effectively and humorously: The Russell Athletic Bowl Twitter handle.
(By the way, if you’re in to the social media thingy, the Russell Athletic Bowl Twitter handle is all kinds of amazing. See below.)Nah. Does BYU do their banking at San Diego County Credit Union? RT @gilbertsgodfrey: is it awkward that both team are sponsored by Nike?
