Badgers reportedly set to raid Aztecs for coordinator

Wisconsin Coach Football AP

The day after Wisconsin officially announced its replacement for Bret Bielema, Gary Andersen confirmed that Dave Aranda would follow him from Utah State as his defensive coordinator.

A week later, the other side of the ball will reportedly be addressed in short order by Andersen as well.

First reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Andersen is poised to hire Andy Ludwig as his new Badgers offensive coordinator.  Ludwig has spent the past two seasons at San Diego State in the same role.

From 2005-08, both Andersen and Ludwig were on the coaching staff at Utah.  Following the 2008 regular season, with Andersen as defensive coordinator and Ludwig as offensive coordinator, the Utes beat Alabama 31-17 in the Sugar Bowl.

(Writer’s note: troll Tide, y’all!)

As far as an official announcement of his first UW hires, Andersen told the Journal Sentinel that “I would think in the next three or four days we’ll have the majority of them announced.”

Hmmm… I’m thinking that with Stave coming back, our 24 RBs coming back minus Ball, and a new coaching staff, things could be pretty entertaining next year.
