Taylor Martinez: ‘defenses in the Big Ten are better than SEC defenses’

Capital One Bowl - Nebraska v Georgia Getty Images

Uh oh.

There are few discussion points in college football that get fans riled up quite like Big Ten and SEC comparisons. Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez added some lighter fluid and a giant ball of lint to that fire before Tuesday’s Capital One Bowl loss to Georgia.

“I think the Big Ten, talent-wise, is a lot better, and the defenses in the Big Ten are better than SEC defenses,” Martinez said via the Lincoln Journal-Star. “This was supposed to be one of the top defenses in the SEC, and we pretty much did anything we wanted against them.”

Those are some bold statements, so I did a little research and number-crunching to see if Martinez’s comments really held water. What I found can be broken down into three basic retorts:

Example 1

Example 2

And, last but certainly not least…

Example 3
(Clowney beheading Vincent Smith in GIF format)

Now, jokes aside and in fairness to Martinez, both Michigan and Nebraska were in positions to win their bowl games against SEC opponents in the fourth quarter, as was Wisconsin against Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Had a few plays gone differently, it could have resulted in a nice showing by the Big Ten on New Year’s Day (no, we’re not counting Purdue).

Still, Jadeveon thinks that’s a Clown statement, bro.

Considering Nebraska lost to South Carolina and Georgia the last two years in their bowl games, shouldn’t Martinez shut up until he can actually beat an SEC team????

  4. cubsin2049 says: Jan 2, 2013 9:13 PM

Nebraska’s defense would stink in both the Big 10 and SEC. Add MAC and WAC to that as well….

  5. jimbo75025 says: Jan 2, 2013 9:14 PM

And in other news, NCAA staffers will be giving Taylor Martinez a drug test first thing on Thursday morning.

  6. Fred says: Jan 2, 2013 9:15 PM

He’s probably not far off. The whole SEC is highly overrated. The Big 10 was down its 2 best teams, throwing off bowl scheduling, and still put up good fights against much higher rated opponents.

Not to mention a Big “Least” team is destroying Florida.

  7. remyje says: Jan 2, 2013 9:17 PM

thanks for making me laugh with the “example 1, example 2 and example 3″ because i was getting mad reading the article.. and I’m not even a fan of an SEC team

@ BEN KURCKEVEL…..YOU ARE A SORRY, PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A WRITER IF I HAVE EVER SEEN ONE! Honestly, your examples to prove SEC dominance is ONE play by ONE guy? Lmmfao! It was a monster hit….but let’s add he had 4 tackles….the whole game…4….yup, that’s weak! Your either completely ignorant or openly bias. Which is better? I’d say they’re pretty even….or I could be LIKE YOU and say the B1G is the only conference to have a defensive player win the Heisman….that’s all 3 of my examples too…my son just learned how to spell his name…that makes him more qualified than you.

  12. 4thputt says: Jan 2, 2013 9:44 PM

Say Tito . . . quarterbacks in the SEC are much better than those in the Big 10 . . . especially those from Nebraska!!!

  14. dankpuffalot says: Jan 2, 2013 9:53 PM

Clowney finally didn’t get owned by Lewan and made an unbelievable play. Other than that, he was kind of invisible and I am an SEC apologist normally.

  15. normtide says: Jan 2, 2013 9:55 PM

I thought the b1g was an academic league, how Martinez doesn’t reflect a b1g education. He also says the b1g won the past 6 titles.

  19. 11thstreetmafia says: Jan 2, 2013 10:10 PM

Lets get this straight, people. The SEC is the best conference in college football RIGHT NOW. Nobody is going to dispute that. But, claiming 10% of all of the teams as your teams is ridiculous. Pick a team.

  20. normtide says: Jan 2, 2013 10:16 PM

  22. overratedgators says: Jan 2, 2013 10:26 PM

  29. dcroz says: Jan 2, 2013 11:15 PM

I don’t care if he did say this a few days before the bowl game; Martinez was bragging on Big Ten defenses after his own team surrendered SEVENTY POINTS to Wisconsin?? That they then gave up 45 to Georgia to bring their “superior” total to 115 in their final two game just underscores how absurd he is for even trying to talk about defense at all, let alone making “ours is better than yours” statements. Did someone check him for a concussion before the game?

  30. aglawman says: Jan 2, 2013 11:19 PM

  32. crazyphatdude14 says: Jan 2, 2013 11:41 PM

He never said that Nebraska’s Defense was better. He stated that (he believes) the Big Ten as a conference, plays better defense. Hate on him all you want, Nebraska put up 443 yards, 26 first downs, and 3 TDs on Georgia’s Defense. Neither side played much defense in that game. Not to mention, Nebraska scored a DEFENSIVE touchdown in that game. Georgia played well and won a well fought game with Nebraska, but this bowl season has shown that the SEC isn’t “almighty”. And a number of Big Ten teams have been able to run with them. Northwestern, Michigan, and Nebraska all have shown that they are more than worthy to share the field with SEC opponents. Wisconsin likely could have as well, and not to mention Ohio State is an excellent team. This coming from a Nebraska Fan. LSU lost to Clemson and Florida is about to lose to Louisville (as of this post). Just my thoughts, though I’m likely to be given a lot of thumbs down for this post by SEC fans. You’re conference deserves credit, but acting like you are so far above everybody else is arrogant and ignorant. If the media didn’t hype the SEC so much, they likely wouldn’t be ranked so high by the BCS. Like so many other things in this world, it’s all political. If ESPN doesn’t tell the world every day that the SEC is the best conference in the country and nobody is even close, it starts to effect journalists, coaches, and analyst’s ability to be objective. The Polls are a direct result of that. But they stay ranked highly because if they haven’t lost in the SEC, than they can’t be beaten by anybody else, right?! Even Alabama lost this season to Texas A&M which really isn’t an “SEC Team”. They are a Big 12 team that is making the transition to the SEC. Sorry about the rant. Proceed to tell me I’m crazy, stupid, etc. GO BIG RED!!!

  33. chachooga says: Jan 2, 2013 11:46 PM

But unlike the ACC the Big 10 blew it.

And future ACC Louisville is lookin good vs. UF though they seem to be trying to give it away.

I don’t wanna hear all the ACC smack talk…..UM and UNC will be in bowls next year….future looks bright.

  34. saints97 says: Jan 3, 2013 12:00 AM

Michigan, statistically, had the second best defense in the B1G this year. They played two games against the SEC, went 0-2, and gave up 74 points and over 850 yards from scrimmage.

I have no idea how to compare who has the better defenses, but I do see a pattern developing when the two conferences play each other.

  35. normtide says: Jan 3, 2013 12:01 AM

Well your name is crazy, but your not stupid. I have always said, the SEC will lose some games, but when you look at the big picture over time, the sec is best. Is it far and away? Probably not. I think the big 12 is close and if the PAC can learn defense, they could knock on the door. Outside of OSU, the B1G its behind the acc on the pecking order. That said, it can change every year. The fact that the sec is there every year has to say something. The bcs titles talk too. Also, Bama destroyed Michigan to start the year. Pound for pound the sec its on top, but they are not unbeatable. Its football, no one is.

  36. woebegong says: Jan 3, 2013 12:11 AM

I did not realize that the Nebraska QB had suffered a concussion as well, as lost to the lowly SEC team as well. UGA, my team, did not have one of the best defenses in the SEC this year, but did have a darn good offense. I guess, the big 10 (?) must have had an off night on defense. I guess his talk or rather B.S. must constitute a moral victory or something in his mind.

  37. irishdodger says: Jan 3, 2013 12:17 AM

    @norm,

You’re one of the few rational SEC fans on here. IMO, the SEC right now is Bama & everybody else. I’m sure you remember the Bill Curry, Ray Perkins, Mike DuBose, Mike Price, Dennis Franchione & Mike Shula years…so enjoy Bama’s current dominance as nothing lasts forever. If it wasn’t for u guys, the fans w/ inferiority complexes from half your conference couldn’t shout, “SEC!, SEC!” when Bama wins while their team sits at home.

  42. saints97 says: Jan 3, 2013 12:41 AM

The best part of this whole thing is that a Nebraska fan can claim that he made the quote above before the game. Seriously, Husker fan? He spoke in the past tense about what they did to Georgia’s defense and you claim he said it before the game?

Nebraska, where the N stands for knowledge.

  43. ruck1707 says: Jan 3, 2013 12:47 AM

Taylor’s quote wasn’t that off base, granted he said it before he played Georgia but it is a bit arrogant. I would have to agree that the SEC is highly overrated, good but overrated. If NU had a healthy DL, I think NU wins but you never know, its football. The loss drops the SEC to 3-3 this bowl season with Alabama, Texas A&M and Mississippi still left to play. None of the three should be considered massive favorites to win their bowls, either.” ;-(

Martinez and company mostly recruited to play in the Big 12, so he’s making excuses for the Wisconsin beat down. SEC at 3-3 going in to the Cotton Bowl! I like scrappy Vanderbilt rising from the ashes—if SEC doesn’t like it, playing tougher schedules during the season will help, and don’t go in to Bowls with trophy’s in your pocket. Or did Alabama already win? Thought you’d say that, its not quite over though.

  53. woebegong says: Jan 3, 2013 5:21 AM

No I wasn’t sweating in my britches by any means. I will admit that Nebraska played a good 40 minutes but the game is 60 minutes long. UGA has done this all year long, maddening as it is. They seem to sleep the first half and wake up and play ball the second half.
Nebraska played a good game, but I wasn’t worried. If UGA had gotten down by 21 points I might have been worried because then Murray might have felt the pressure and rushed his passes. I think the pressure and the time on the field got to Nebraska’s defense though.
In a way, it is good that the coaches can make the adjustments most of the time at half time, because UGA wasn’t always able to do that against good teams previously. In the end, the only thing that matters to those kids on the field is getting the win, breaking their bowl draught, and as things are shaping up, finishing with a top 5 ranking. UGA is also in the thick of things for a few really good recruits, and this bowl win will elevate their chances, so it is a good win.

I can see you are both well educated and can count. Bravo sir, but tell me and I may be wrong here, but when did Missouri and Texas (A&M) become part of the southEAST??

Gotta love how people like you try to use the number of teams in the conference against the name of the conference yet geographically (I know big word for you Liverpool) the conference you support is no better.

  58. renbucks says: Jan 3, 2013 8:51 AM

Martinez indeed was off base (slightly) as we now see after the facts. But most alarming is the exploitation of the truth once again by a media writer. I really appreciate the rebuttals given explaining the date of the actual comment, the reminder that the points given by Mr. Kercheval were one play by one guy to represent an entire body of work from many teams across a gross of games and the fact that ESPN has elevated the SEC to an unsustainable level. Quite ludicrous. It really just amplifies Albert Speer’s point when he wrote:
“Hitler’s dictatorship differed in one fundamental point from all its predecessors in history. It was the first dictatorship in the present period of modern technical development, a dictatorship which made complete use of all technical means for the domination of its own country. Through technical devices like the radio and the loud-speaker, eighty million people were deprived of independent thought. It was thereby possible to subject them to the will of one man.”
Yes, the SEC is still the best overall, but the gap is closing. All empires will rise and fall.

  59. dkhhuey says: Jan 3, 2013 9:14 AM

  60. chmba says: Jan 3, 2013 9:22 AM

As an alumnus of an SEC school living in ‘husker country, I would add the following:

    1. for most of his career Martinez has been an arrogant fumbling/interception machine masquerading as a quarterback.
    2. thanks b4bama for listing all the sports including equestrian…Nebraska & Tom Osborne turned down the chance to be D-I in equestrian because the coach thought they couldn’t compete at that level….she was probably right because all the top Nebraska competitors are on teams in the SEC & Big-12 with a smattering elsewhere! South Carolina is number 1.
    3. Pelini knows the GA defense well as he coached against it at LSU which brings me to “why did T.O. want an SEC defensive guy for head coach….maybe he new something T.M. didn’t.

Huskerguy, that’s a great article and all, but it isn’t at all the same quote. How could you possibly think that he he could say “we pretty much did anything we wanted against them” days BEFORE the game?

I don’t need to do research to know you’re a fool.

  63. madtownthrowdown says: Jan 3, 2013 11:13 AM

    Norm-

Good point. Guess if we could all control other things. The above article would never have happend. from both a writers stand point and from a mediocre QB/turnover machine like Martinez, stand point. One thing I can control (for now) my kid wearing a Cardinal and White, UW hat. Hopefully in about 12-15 years he will stick with the Badgers but if this keeps up, I may see him in a plaid fedora yelling Roll Tide after everything. Either way it would be better than all these Gator fans that live around me in St. Pete.

  64. madtownthrowdown says: Jan 3, 2013 11:14 AM

Hey man, as long as mine gets his education, idc if he goes to auburn (yuck). Mine were raised on crimson, but that diploma if my concern. But, I won’t root for his football team, lol. Best of luck with your new coach, if UW can pass effectively with that run game, the up coming cowboy classic vs Bama could be a wild one.

  66. gamustangdude says: Jan 3, 2013 11:29 AM

Bowl games are special. Teams don’t play bowl games as they do regular season games. Folks have weeks to prepare for defenses and incorporate different schemes that are not found on film. Martinez says they were able to do anything they wanted, well I guess they didn’t want to win the game then. They did everything but that.

So much sour grapes by a kid who couldn’t get the job done against the poor, poor SEC team from Georgia. I guess he is just depressed, because now he gets to finish out his career in the snow, and I don’t think he has a whole lot of future in the NFL.
He should learn to be a more gracious loser. Nebraska is darn lucky Wisconsin went to the Rose Bowl, so they could be considered for the bowl they did get in. If you are good, you prove it on the field. If not, I guess he must be a journalism major and feel his words carry some weight. He lost, so he should just grow up, along with what seems a lot of other fans on this blog, and get on with life.
There is always next year, I guess, just not for him in football.

You ‘assume’ you can read at all, that’s why you ‘assume’ I cry everytime the SEC is mentioned….I don’t give a flying FUCK about the SEC and all their blowhort members (Texas A&M aside, since they totally and convincingly kicked the shit out of Alabama…which is why the Tide should not be in the national championship game…SHAMEFUL ERROR…that’s another reason why the BCS needs to go & playoffs need to be in…to keep ‘Bama and other SEC dickheads off the field and thrown back into the classroom…or at least ROMPER ROOM). If I cry at all, it comes from all the extreme laughter everytime I hear praises from ESPN, NBC & all others about the overblown, overrated SEC and their scatterbrained, misled fan bases …Your posts are the real embarrassments in these articles, blowhard…always look forward to your SEC brand of knowledge & whit….oh, I take that back…just leave the whit-part (let’s not get carried-away with something clearly over your little heads)!!!

I’m a college English instructor….reading, writing and ‘evaluating’ (especially dumbass writing attempts such as yours) is what I do for a living. I can clearly see what Alabama has contributed with your shameful verbage. I hear that is pretty typical at most SEC schools as well. You want to get into a ‘war on words,’ you just bring it on, Bammer-hammer…Y’all er perty smart down yonder ‘bama way…cain’t wait fer yer nex peece of ‘portnt lingo….y’all come back now…y’here? Perhaps it is because I never had a teacher as classy as yourself. Do you give a course on stereotyping as well? Given the way you judge a group of people, I am sure you also have plenty to say about blacks, Mexicans, Jews, and women as well.

  78. be4bama says: Jan 3, 2013 6:20 PM

Yeah, ukeone, your an English instructor and I’m a neurosurgeon. What you really are is dumb as a rock…..
One more time I will list the past year’s accomplishments in the SEC
    NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
    FOOTBALL
    BASKETBALL
    BASEBALL
    LADIES GOLF
    SOFTBALL
    GYMNASTICS
    EQUESTRIAN
    MEN’S INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TRACK
    WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Again this makes the SEC ELITE!!
I bet that school you teach English at would be so proud of your extended vocabulary (potty mouth)
And finally leave norm alone and pick on somebody your own size. What are you? A XXXXXXXL eating your Momma’s food and living in her basement.
Oh I almost forgot GO SEC and ROLL TIDE ROLL

  79. ukeone says: Jan 3, 2013 6:25 PM

I ‘love’ them all, lover boy!!! You being from the SOUTH (home of the KKK), I am surprised you had the balls to make such an assertion…Everyone you mentioned have great lives up here in the North!!! It took you a long time to respond, too…were you looking for the spelling of ‘stereotyping?’ You spelled it correctly, you know…aren’t dictionaries wonderful?

  80. normtide says: Jan 3, 2013 6:30 PM

    My phone has auto spell.

You love everyone, except southerners? Also, the kkk’s greatest influence was in the state of Indiana. I guess we are lucky you don’t give a course on history.

  81. ukeone says: Jan 3, 2013 6:38 PM

Oh, your cheerleading squad just showed-up…I see be4bama is again proud of HER accomplishments in sports…but in the classroom??? NOT!!! This, in fact, makes the SEC pitiful and putrid among the college elite. And if I were an XXXXXXXL, Saban would pay me to be on ‘Bama’s football front line…they’re going to need it against Notre Dame! And, by the way, be4bama , why do you find the NEED to REPEAT yourself over & over with the above facts? Are you someone’s trained PARROT, or do you have a speech impediment? The latter is more likely ‘down yonder’ (unless you can teach a parrot to write at all!). And, yes, my school is quite proud of my extended vocabulary (as are all my intelligent students).

    GO IRISH!!!

  82. normtide says: Jan 3, 2013 6:43 PM

  84. ukeone says: Jan 3, 2013 6:48 PM

On the contrary, I love Paula Dean (great cook…just a little too much butter, though)….but she’s from Georgia, and we all know that’s a FOUR-LETTER WORD to you Bam-ites. Yeah, you can’t count either! And in regard to your Indiana assertion, every Black-American (who have had ancestors ravaged, beaten and murdered by you piss-ass confederates) is now pissing on your very doorstep! Influence may have misguided itself to ONE Northern state, but SLAVERY had its ugly face show-up in EVERY SOUTHERN STATE!!! And who better to police it to fruition than YOUR KKK!!! Better not give-out your name, normtide…those were dangerous words you spewed-out!

  85. ukeone says: Jan 3, 2013 6:52 PM

  87. saints97 says: Jan 3, 2013 9:36 PM

  88. be4bama says: Jan 3, 2013 10:29 PM

Saints97, he ain’t nothing more than a racist idiot. Probably a liberal too.

An English professor is liberal? That’s like saying a fish probably swims.

  90. saints97 says: Jan 3, 2013 10:49 PM

Then again, one would think that an “English instructor” would know the difference between the word whit and wit, and be able to use them properly. I feel for his poor students, but I can see why he thinks they are all really smart.

    LOL

The BiG’s envy of the SEC is palpable and I, for one, savor every second of it. While the SEC drives it’s Mercedes to “the Ivory Tower”, the B1G drives it’s Sentra to Wal Mart only to greet our wives and wish them a warm welcome.

Bitching and griping is like the cheesecake after a really well prepared steak. Nebraska continues to be the SEC’s bitch, and, while Nebraska may harp about it after the fact, it appears you really enjoy it as you let it happen time and time again.

Congrats to Georgia, and condolences to Martinez and the rest of the B1G. Maybe y’all can live your football dreams “la vida loca” through the Louisville Cardinals.

  94. ukeone says: Jan 4, 2013 4:33 AM

Saints97: you can suck my prick..and be4bama (the mouthy, Parasitical Parrot) as well. Nothing like a couple of sour, southern, bewildered bitches with their mouths wide open, ready for the B1G one! The ‘liberal’ remark obviously came from a ‘good ‘ol southern boy'; and much like your KKK buddies in Congress, I really don’t take any of you seriously at all. By 2014, you’ll all be gone anyway. And clemsonstillsucks: LOL…if you think anyone (let alone the B1G) ‘envies’ the SEC in any way, you’re mighty deranged! Loved watching Florida get humbled by lesser competition…and LSU LOSE to the MUCH BETTER team… (No. 14 Clemson 25, No. 9 LSU 24)…now, that’s an enjoyable outcome that can happen over & over for me anytime…& your very name indicates you’re the one living your football dreams “la vida loca”… a sore LOSER (… you certainly know your own cheesecake, too)! I like my steak medium rare, by the way…LOL!

  95. normtide says: Jan 4, 2013 8:17 AM

  98. olskool711 says: Jan 4, 2013 11:16 AM

I can’t believe it, but I’m gonna come off as an SEC apologist. Here goes…

The big 10 is embarrassing. The only football people that take them seriously are big 10 people. The rest of football look at them as a joke. Nobody, nobody else takes you seriously.

A 2-5 record in current bowl games is actually a lot better than I would have predicted or thought possible. The victory over Oregon State was probably the biggest upset, the best win the big 10 has had in years. Of course, Michigan State and Michigan will once again be rated in next years pre-season top 10.

And, once again, they will lose 12-14 games.

The little 10 has re-defined the word overrated.

I see you seem to have found something other than ‘a trophy’ to cling on to, normtide…that’s good…because after tonight, the trophy will not be in Alabama.

And, by the way, there seems to be a ‘romance’ brewing between you and be4bama…do we get wedding invitations, or are you eloping? I guess ‘kissing cousins’ are alive and well in Alabama and the SEC!

P.S. I hate Notre Dame as much as I hate Alabama, but there comes a time when choosing between two unpopular foes becomes a necessity (there are tv ratings to consider, and deciding between God & the godless, you know…thankfully, Home & Garden Channel will have better ratings tonight).

I do find some of your comments offensive though, and I am afraid Normtide, that you are dealing with a childish young person, who would appear to be about 14 or so years old. Otherwise, he would not make such childish remarks. Seriously dude, if that is indeed what you are, take pride in yourself, even at your immature age, and try to make some valid points, instead of these completely childish remarks such as, kissing cousins and all, in reference to the SEC, and Alabama. In other words dude, grow up, because your remarks give your age and maturity away, and I can assure you, at my age, even I don’t find them offensive, because I realize that they are being made by a SNERT. Since you are so young, SNERT stands for, “Snot Nosed Egotistical Rotten Teenager”.

Even if he were to stick around for another year, he will not improve much, if any and Nebraska, with him at QB, will once again, be in the same position they were after playing another SEC team, with the same results, he produced against Georgia.
Now, isn’t it time for you, to go get your cookies and milk from mommy, SNERT.

We really can’t blame him if he doesn’t see the game, much less know when it is on TV, since he probably has to get mommy and daddy to let him stay up late enough to watch it on TV.

Just trolling along to try and besmirch the Nebraska name. Likely a former opponent of ours from the Big 8/Big 12 days that we beat so many times they have nothing left but hate and spite in their minds and hearts.

  117. amosalanzostagg says: Jan 4, 2013 6:50 PM

    wow,

Go to the office to finish some work and an ND troll comes in running smack on the B1G?

When the B1G has to depend on Northwestern to carry the B1G banner, I guess a 2-5 bowl belies an above average superior athletic ability on the football field.

Since ND is a paragon of virtue, I guess ukeone can enlighten the blog as to the superior moral values of having an alleged rapist playing for ND in Monday’s night championship?

Ukeone, enlighten us as to why President Jenkins won’t even meet with the Seeberger family? Explain
how a college football player of limited means has
the legal services of one of Chicago’s top plaintiff
attorney (who just happens to be an ND alum),pro bono? No quid pro qou there is there?

Face it, ND has no shame, alleged rapist still playing for the Irish.

  118. ukeone says: Jan 4, 2013 6:59 PM

Love it….keep it coming…love hearing birds of the same feather cackling amongst one another (like little bitches in a Tuscaloosa beauty parlor, with their heads all wired-up and frying undere the dryer…no, I am not a teenager…no, I do not live in my momma’s basement….no, I am not fat…YES, I am a BIG HUSKER FAN, which is why I am frustrating the hell out of all you self-centered, complaining women who love to belittle Nebraska and the B1G…just feeding you your own stinkin’ medicine, which obviously you find quite offensive. And, normtide, if you enjoy some good ‘ol football talk, do so WITHOUT belittling the B1G and Nebraska (and others outside Alabama)….as long as you (and your fellow toothless cheerleaders) find it amusing to put down others for your own gain, I’ll continue feeding you your own smelly dog shit! Don’t like it, then talk FOOTBALL and behave!!!

  119. amosalanzostagg says: Jan 4, 2013 7:03 PM

    ukeone,

Just a little history for you. St Ara went down to Baton Rouge with a ND team that was “the best team in the land” It was 1971, and I was doing grad work @ Tulane. For the entire week, ND kept saying that they were going to go down to the Bayou and kick LSU’s
    posterior all over the field.

All I saw was a big, very slow, somewhat athletic ND team get it’s lunch hand to them on the field. In the post game press conference St. Ara said that he would never play LSU in Baton Rouge ever again.

    The ban lasted until 1984.

Point is, The SEC is ready willing and able to play any team, any time, any place.

  120. ukeone says: Jan 4, 2013 7:16 PM

And again for the one just joining the blog…I am NOT a Notre Dame fan, nor have I ever been one. I really don’t care who is playing for whom, amosalanzostagg, especially from Notre Dame or Alabama, and I do do not feel the need to enlighten you about anytrhing or anyone from Notre Dame. It just so happens that there is a game between these two teams, and I have chosen who I want to win…plain and simple…so, just because I choose not to support Alabama is no reason to spew your crimson poison at me or anyone who disagrees with you…if your team wins….fine with me…but if Notre Dame wins, then so much the better. Blogs are not designed for the opinions of one party….so, if you can’t allow opposing voices to speak-out, then you’re the dick I think you really are!

  121. normtide says: Jan 4, 2013 7:24 PM

They’re just words, normtide…”sticks and stones”, right? Love it or not, they are part of Americana, and they are used extensively, in the most outlandish and colorful ways. The best books on the bestsellers lists are filled with this colorful verbage; and surprisingly, the books sell! ABTW, normtide, why do you keep insisting that I am exhibiting some sort of envy? For Whom? Alabama? Notre Dame? You and your group of ‘bammer-thugs? I don’t envy you at all…and as long as you continue your disrespectful, belittling remarks about Nebraska (or anyone outside of Tuscaloosa), then you are asking for more of the same medicine in return. You know, winning on the field isn’t ‘everything’… there are better things out there. Football Scholarships are given for academics first, not for playing football. If I am on anyone’s side, it will be for those who ‘financially’ need those scholarships (wasted on student-athletes who don’t know what they’re really used for) so that they can get the eduction they crave for…those are REAL STUDENTS…not the jokers on the playing field who feel that WINNING AT ALL COSTS is everything! You, know, you need to expand your horizons a bit…get out of Alabama once-in-a-while….see that there are REAL PEOPLE out there, and that the world does not end at the Alabama border.

  123. ukeone says: Jan 4, 2013 8:48 PM

Couldn’t handle the Big 12 so you go to the B1G to become Wisconsin’s plaything.

Tell me ukeone, what hurt worse being Wisconsin’s boy toy or Mack Brown’s concubine?

Is it true that Nebraska went crying to the B1G because Deloss Dodd’s told told Tom Terrific to pund sand up his arse regarding the LHN?, or

Was it because Deloss took away your slush fund county program for walk ons?, or

Was it because Deloss took away your sheltered partial qualifer admissions that allowed Mensa’s like woman beater Lawrence Phillips to get into school without an SAT score?

Face it, Nebraska went to conference in which football and bowl games are synonymous with a Jay Leno monologue on pathetic football.

Hell, how do you lose an AAU rating in a conference of AAU schools? Easy,
everyone in the B1G knows that the N on Nebraska’s helmets stands for knowledge. Since Nebraska lost it’s ability to cheat Nebraska football championships are a thing of the past.

ukeone, what you really seem to crave is attention. That’s why you keep making provocative–but nonsensical–statements on a football blog in hopes of sparking responses. Here’s mine:

Financially underpriviledged kids receiving athletic scholarships need them just as much as financially underpriviledged kids receiving academic scholarships. The purpose of college is to prepare kids for future careers. We don’t require academically gifted students to run a 4.4 40 in order to qualify for their financial assistance–we require them to keep up their grades.

Likewise, I see no reason to require athletically gifted students to maintain a 4.0 when their skillset puts them in line for an NFL career. Why should they spend the rest of their days struggling to make minimum wage rather than get the opportunity to use their skillset to play for a Division I school then move on to a multimillion-dollar NFL career simply because their intellectual gifts don’t match their physical gifts? They work hard to develop their bodies, just as the intellectually gifted work hard to maintain their grades. Your snobbery shouldn’t deprive them of their opportunities.

But as you say, it’s a free country, so you can continue to spew all the ignorant nonsense you like about places you’ve never seen and people you’ve never known.

    Enjoy.

    @amosalonzostagg:

Hell, how do you lose an AAU rating in a conference of AAU schools? Easy,
everyone in the B1G knows that the N on Nebraska’s helmets stands for knowledge. Since Nebraska lost it’s ability to cheat Nebraska football championships are a thing of the past.

    __________________________________
Well, if you want to talk facts, then lets actually talk about facts.

    1. The LHN wasn’t even in existence nor was even known about at the time Nebraska left the Big 12. As for DeLoss Dodd’s telling Tom Osborne to “pound sand”, why would DeLoss Dodd’s be giving Tom Osborne such a statement when he wasn’t the commissioner of the Big 12? Unless Texas and DeLoss Dodd’s were actually in control of the decisions in the Big 12, then that statement makes absolutely no sense.

    2. A County Scholarship Walk-On slush fund? Are you serious? This kind of myth ranks up there with Big Foot and UFO sightings. Here is some light reading to put this myth away for those that actually believe this to be true:
    http://nebraska.scout.com/2/47613.html

    3. Lawrence Phillips wasn’t a Partial Qualifier. Partial Qualifiers had to sit their first year in college and adequately pass 24 credit hours before being allowed to practice, much less compete, with the football team the following year. Lawrence Phillips played his true freshman season at Nebraska and was not a Partial Qualifier. Partial Qualifiers also had to receive a bachelor’s degree within their first 4 years in order to receive a fifth year (4th year of actual eligibility).

I could go into great detail about Partial Qualifiers, but know this as a simple fact. Partial Qualifiers performed academically and graduated from college at an extremely higher rate than Junior College transfers.

    4. Interesting that you use a grade school ploy such as ‘N’ is for knowledge to take a pot shot at Nebraska. As for Nebraska losing it’s AAU status? They had been on that chopping block for roughly a decade. It was merely a matter of time. The University is working diligently to gain back that status. A big part would be in bringing back the UN-Medical School under the UN-Lincoln umbrella. Even though UNL and UNO are obviously associated, for AAU accreditation the UN-Medical School does not count for Nebraska’s status for AAU consideration.

If you would like to continue discussing actual facts, then I’m all ears. If all you want to do is make slanderous statements based upon outright lies and other myths, then I’ll kindly step away from the conversation.

  159. amosalanzostagg says: Jan 5, 2013 4:38 PM

    ukeone,

Come on now. you really think that actual thinking people think Nebraska wasn’t cheating with the county FFA program started by Devaney, sure, uh huh, whatever…

I was in the room when Tom Osborne asked Deloss Dodd’s if Texas was going ahead with it’s own Television Network, Deloss told him “Yes, we are developing our network for additional revenue streams to the Texas Athletic Department”, (which is not affiliated with the University of Texas, it is it’s own profit center). Tom Osborne, as well as Missouri, and Texas A&M AD’s were extremely pissed.

When Texas started discussions of going to the PAC-12 with Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas A&M
accelerated discussions with the SEC in order to find a conference with stability. nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and Texas A&M all realized that Texas is only out for Texas. That is what makes the Big 12 so volatile, it exists at Texas’s whim. UT decides to go independent, and the Big 12 is done. Osborne knew that and chose the Penn State option of joining the B1G. nebraska doesn’t make a dime in revenue from the conference just like Penn State didn’t make any for close to a decade.

Anything coming from a pro nebraska website is pure bilge water. nebraska decline as a national power coincided with Texas’s acension in the Big 12 as the dominant program. nebraska was
revelant in the late 90’s. Ever since, nada, zero, zip and no chest thumping from a third rate English professor in a second tier University which couldn’t handle MINIMUM AAU standards is BEYOND pathetic, …… it speaks LOSER big time. nebraska was so stupid when it allowed Deloss Dodds tp bring to the Big 12 meetings two items which were cornerstone to nebraska athletics in three years and did nothing to lobby against the items being placed on the agenda. The first item was the “Elimination of the County scholarship program” which the conference saw as a walk on program benefiting the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in their athletic program. It passed unanimously by Big 12 AD’s with nebraska being the sole dissenting vote.

The second item was the elimination of partial qualifiers introduced by Deloss Dodds as a direct shot at nebraska. That item too passed with nebraska being the sole dissenting vote. Why do you think Osborne retired as football coach?,……his sheltered programs and competitive advantage
was gone at the doings of the dominant power Texas and their AD,Deloss Dodds.

nebraska has been a mere shell ever since. nebraska is Marlon Brando in “On the Watrefront”.

    “I coulda been a contenda!”

Face it nebraska isn’t revelant any more on a national stage since they can’t cheat any more.

How’s it feel to being Meyer’s and O’Brien’s *itch? Probably no different than being Mack Brown’s……..what is nebraska’s record against Mack, 0-10?

Enjoy mediocrity, it fits nebraska quite fine. You should be proud of that 2-5 B1G bowl record.

    huskerzfan

I see that you must take reading comprehension from that noted nebraska English professor, Ukeone. No wonder nebraska lost it’s AAU rating with Mensa’s like you.

I actually attended many meetings with the Big 12 AD’s for over 14 years, if you had actually read the pertinent sentence in my post, (re-posted to educate an obviously lacking base reading skills of huskerzfan)

“I was in the room when Tom Osborne asked Deloss Dodd’s if Texas was going ahead with it’s own Television Network, Deloss told him “Yes, we are developing our network for additional revenue streams to the Texas Athletic Department”, (which is not affiliated with the University of Texas, it is it’s own profit center). Tom Osborne, as well as Missouri, and Texas A&M AD’s were extremely pissed. ”

It was not an initial meeting, it was THREE years ago. I guess math is a little hard for you as well, huskerzfan. I mean most nebraska fans have a remedial amount of brain cells to understand the time line of nebraska’s exit from the Big 12, but then again, I cannot assume anything since your reading comprehension is below that of OU and obviously a student of ukeone.

A bitter Texas fan? Never!, but then again coming from such a pathetic school as nebraska, you would
have been astute if you were an actual reader on an ongoing basis of this blog. I cheer for Alabama and the SEC. That being an aside, you, like ukeone display complete and total ignorance that really makes people wonder if the n on the side of nebraska’s helmets really does stand for “Knowledge” as nebraska knows it.

Keep trying and remember to try to stay within the lines of your read and color books that are a core element of ukeone’s class.

First of all, dickwad, I did not write anything that you quoted above. You are obviously smoking texas tumbleweed and are delirious, or you’re too busy sucking dick to notice authorship before you stick your foot in your mouth (that is, after you’ve finished self-sucking yourself).

Secondly, did you ‘actually READ’ the article you referenced above before you pointed it out…or can you actually READ anything?

    (quotes from the article)
“There were a lot of people who didn’t want them disassociated,” said one public-university president.

“The unprecedented move was fraught with intrigue and politics not typical of staid and collegial academic associations,” say several presidents in the AAU with knowledge of the process who asked not to be named because of the group’s confidential proceedings. (The vote was brought on by the University of TEXAS in retaliation for Nebraska leaving the Little 12)

“The AAU’s two-phase membership criteria focus primarily on an institution’s amount of competitive research funds and its share of faculty members who belong to the National Academies. Faculty awards and citations are also taken into account.” (in other words, dickhead, the main criteria is RESEARCH MONEY…and since most of UN’s research dollars are invested in the University of Nebraska Medical Center – in Omaha, not Lincoln – Texas found what it needed to get Nebraska ousted – reason again: BACKDOOR POLITICS by texas)

“It was very clear that the easiest path to scoring high on the criteria is to have large medical schools or large science and engineering faculties,” said Nancy Cantor, chancellor of Syracuse University, which was reviewed along with Nebraska and has decided to leave the AAU voluntarily in the coming months…(see dickhead, other schools left ‘in protest” to Texas’ meddling in the internal structure of the AAU).

“I think that it shows the membership itself is divided about what it means to be a top research university.” (The AAU is currently reassessing its newly drafted standards, since they were politically motivated…by Texas’ interference).

“In an analysis conducted last year by The Chronicle, several non-AAU members outpaced current AAU members in federal research dollars.” (And these members have been ‘prevented’ from membership vecause of Texas’ meddling)

“By this time, I’m reasonably certain that there are strong forces against the University of Nebraska, and I guess I was angry.”

While presidents sipped cocktails between 7 and 9 in the evening, ballots were slipped under their doors, …” “..remarkably, ‘few’ presidents in the association knew of Nebraska’s precarious status until they returned to their rooms to find the ballots.” (Texas’ mafia slipped ballots under president’s hotel room doors in the hope that they could expedite Nebraska’s ouster)

“…the process … has created the impression in my mind, and in the mind of others, that the leadership is determined to achieve a particular result regardless of the rules.” (Texas NEVER plays by the rules!!!)

“What particularly hurt Nebraska in those metrics is that as a land-grant institution in a farming state, it gets a large share of its research dollars for agriculture. The entire University of Nebraska system had $13.2-million in federally financed farm-related research in 2008, or about 10 percent of its total federal research dollars, as compared with a nationwide average of about 3 percent.” (Again, dickhead, DOLLARS in certain research areas, not agricultural research, which was predominantly in Lincoln)

“The AAU, however, does not give such research the same weight in its membership criteria because much of federal support for agricultural work is awarded through formulas and earmarks rather than peer-reviewed grants. As a result, presidents of land-grant institutions say that the AAU metrics are stacked against them. They maintain that differences between states in climate, soil, and crops necessitate formula-driven funds.” (In other words, dickhead, funds achieved through federal grants are not considered RESEARCH DOLLARS, since TEXAS and their puppet schools determined that RESEARCH $$$ should come from people’s pockets instead!)

“Large public institutions like Nebraska are also hurt in the AAU rankings by a process the association calls “normalization,” which seeks to determine per-faculty research rewards by dividing total research dollars by the number of faculty members at an institution.”

In his e-mail to the campus and in interviews with The Chronicle, Mr. Perlman said what put Nebraska at a particular disadvantage was the lack of an “on-campus medical school.”

While other AAU members, such as Cornell and Pennsylvania State Universities, for instance, lack medical schools on their main campuses, Nebraska’s medical school is also under a totally separate administrative structure from the Lincoln campus, an arrangement that is unlike the ones at those other institutions. As a result, its research dollars are not counted by the AAU, even though, as a medical school, it can’t belong to the association on its own. A medical school both improves an institution’s absolute number of research dollars and improves its score on the ratio of research output to tenure-track faculty, since medical schools often rely heavily on researchers who are not tenure-track faculty.”

So you see, dickwad, if you look carefully at huskerzfan’s criteria….he was totally correct and you are a drunken dickwad who can’t READ, or probaly doesn’t want to (because MOMMY always made you go to your room and read rather than go outside and play with tumbleweeds).

So, whatever you mean by ‘being kicked-out for MINIMAL STANDARDS” was actually a ploy by TEXAS to get back at Nebraska….and, by the way, a number of universities have voluntarily pulled-out of the AAU because of fuckin’ TEXAS’ ploitics and the direction they pulled the AAU to for their own gains.

But, I’ll let huskerzfan take over…he’s doing a great job on his own….you being a disgruntled Texas reject (and watching them play so hilariously this season with the big talent they have recruited and wasted by the retarded, unqualified coaching staff at Texas) is no reason to for you to lose your marbles and make an ass out of yourself here. You are so FUNNY & delirious, dickwad!

I guess the N on the helmet does stand for “Knowledge., because you have a decade to get your house in order and you still **** it up, boy, you make Forrest Gump look like a Mensa compared to how stupid nebraska must be to not act on their accreditation.

BFD on UN-medical school. Rice is AAU accredited and doesn’t have a medical school. Neither does Texas A&M. Seeing how dumb nebraska is, I seriously doubt medical school applicants to UN would even want to admit that they wanted to go there. It must their fifth or sixth choice after obviously more qualified schools, even after schools in Latin America or match book covers.
    America.

Face it, the AAU knew that nebraska was inferior and the voting showed it…too bad nebraska lincoln is academically inferior, but then again that would make perfect sense considering that they have jettison like you trying to “teach” there. Texas being so superior to nebraska forced
the AAU to retaliate against nebraska, yet you yourself said.

Again, you acknowledge Texas was powerful enough to retaliate against nebraska in the AAU secret ballot voting, yet not powerful enough to control the Big 12. You need to get your story straight.

nebraska is the great pretender. They say they want to compete on the highest level in athletics
and academics, but when they can’t have their partial qualifiers or their county scholarship
walk on program, they sink into mediocrity and go running off to a conference they “think” they can compete in. Same with academics. They have a DECADE to get their house in order and yet blame a boogie man in the University of Texas because nebraska themselves ****ked it up.
Don’t think that the other B1G schools don’t know that and are LTAO on how a school can ****
up MINIMUM requirements given a decade notice. Even Rutgers and Maryland are laughing at you.

    Pathetic, ukeone,pathetic

You never answered the simple question asked of you. Need help with the question?

here it is again, so you can google it since you can’t obvious “Think” for yourself.

“What is nebraska’s record in football against Mack Brown and Texas?”

Finally, does your wife know about your repressed homosexual tendencies? You really need to talk to her about these feelings because she and your children deserve an honest and open approach to your tendencies. Pleas get the necessary mental help before you do something stupid.

    ukeone,

invest in spell check, it’s spelled V-U-L-G-A-R, not
vulger in your multiple post. I can see why you work at a second tier school. Keep trying though.

  173. ukeone says: Jan 6, 2013 1:23 AM

First of all, that was not a ‘multiple post’…it was ONE POST, dipshit!

And, who the FUCK are you quoting? Certainly not my writing there, asshole…you need to get your reading glasses out of your ass and check ‘who wrote what’ here!!!

And not even a nice try, dickwad, as one typo doesn’t even compare to the horrific grammar you exhibited above in your attempt to be smart. Southern mentality? Can’t credit you and TEXAS with SO MUCH! More like BULL-shit!!!….You still get an “F” for your comprehension skills, though….as you seem to read only what you want to & skip the rest for convenience sake…and then, you still can’t fully understand any of the content. YOU MAKE NO SENSE, dickweed… “Tи є такий дурак, що твоя рідна мама не пізнає тебе!”….It means: “You are so stupid your own MAMA doesn’t recognize you!…not for the feeble-minded, right dickwood? (see dickwacker, my English is more than sufficient…tenured-PhD – allowing me to take good care of my ‘wonderful wife and honor-roll kids…that I have time to perfect another a second language.) If it isn’t “como esta ustedes” down there for you, it’s good ol’ Texas jargon to the rescue (which is what I see the most above in your sad-ass attempt at English!!!

Texas will soon get its DO very, very soon…and most of America can’t wait to see Austin become a ghost town when it does! That’s why you live in Texas….the Secession state! Never thought for one moment that when your fellow Texans (the poor pathetic creatures they are) petitioned the president for ‘full secession’ from the union, that if granted…there would go your precious little-league football team, since ‘republics’ aren’t invited to play in the NCAA! There would go UT, TT, TCU, (and sadly Texas A&M too…the only school in Texas smart enough to get away from your bull)… BEVO would get grinded-up into your chili, your (hahahaha) very sad TV network would go back to ESPN….and Mack Brown would fly away with the tumbleweed!

Yo’ MOMMA never took you to school ‘to lerrrrrn’ because she was too busy with the pig farm , while yo’ PAPPA was busy eating the pig YO’ FAT MOMMA butchered & was also glued to your B&W TV, watching TEXAS make total BULL of themselves on your sad, sad, sad (and truly LAUGHABLE) BEVO-TV NETWORK…you know, the one no reputable national cable firm wants anything to do with…..while BTN is raking-in the dough for each school (In 2013 alone, we will be each be granted around $40M because of the additions of Maryland & Rutgers)….NICE! And, no, they aren’t laughing ‘at us’…they’re laughing ‘with us’…all of us in the B1G….all the way to the bank!!!

In answer to your question, DICKWAD, Who Gives A Flying Fuck about Texas and Mack Brown….he is going to be history very soon anyway. In those last two conference title games, everyone in America knew TEXAS & DODDS paid-off the refs… (and that ‘1 second left’ plea from Brown after SUE ripped your QBs head off…pathetic!)…and, paying-off that fuckin’ Big12 commissioner (what was the asshole’s name? ummmm…you know…the one TEXAS fired & took-off the payroll [not the Big 12]….ummmm…. oh yeah, BOOBE (or was it BEEBE?)…whatever…he was DELOSS’ boyfriend, while it lasted!) ….and finally, the nerve of TEXAS ‘buying and bribing’ all those talented recruits over the years, while the coaching staff (MB mostly) STILL can’t figure-out what to do with them….HOW DOES TEXAS GET INTO THE TOP 10 IN RECRUITS EVERY YEAR AND STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE OUT OF THEM IS THE BIGGEST CRIME IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY!!! You see how deceiving those Texas PESOS rally are? I feel really bad for those athletes, DICKWAD….they’ve been ‘dooped’ “LIED TO’ “HOODWINKED” (I thought I’d throw-in some texas jargon in there for ya’) into believing that TEXAS would turn them into legitimate ‘football players’…..what a sad, fucking joke!!! Pull some of your cheerleaders onto the field…they know the game far better than Brown does, anyway….What a pathetic downhill fall for you and what an excuse for a university that has to kneel and pray to a BULL! (What ‘a good cover’ for your bestiality!) Oh, and BEVO looks pretty lethargic as well…you think he passed his ‘poleosis’ onto the team? He certainly did to the coaches!

And, really…the homosexual thing? YOU???? Is that your pick-up line, loverboy? My wife laughs at your transparency! Get a rainbow flag and flaunt your orientation.

TEXAS IS DEAD AND WILL NEVER BE REAL TO ANYONE….YEP! THEY GROW ‘EM BIG DOWN THERE! BIG EMPTY HEADS, that is!

    @ukeone

Neutered Lame, Brian “murderer” Kelley and his merry little band of rapists, will be spitting blood, after Bama dominates them. Nick Saban doesn’t normally make “statements” in bowl games. But, after Lou Holtz said that the “game had passed him by, and he needs to retire”, I don’t think he will slow down! Alabama will win by at least 28! You guys have made this personal. Your ignorance in all aspects of life, is increasingly troublesome.

With all of that said…..this post is about a stupid comment that Taylor Martinez made. UGA’s defense is not ranked in the top five in the SEC. Their offense is…..just not their defense. As a matter of fact, they are ranked #12 (in the SEC), against the run. So, to use their defensive stats as a measuring stick, shows why/how, they got their doors blown off, by the third best team in the Leaders (or Legends) division. He should study a little more film, and look at his opponent’s strengths and weaknesses.

And you claim to be an English professor? You are a piece of garbage and a blatant RACIST! I’d really like to know what college or university you are affiliated with. Probably some neo-nazi cult that you consider a “place of higher learning.” Make everyone on this board happy and go away.

  177. amosalanzostagg says: Jan 6, 2013 2:00 PM

    Ukeone,

    LOL,

I tend to agree with you about Texas. Texas has never been the same since the National Championship against Alabama (my Alma mater). Rivals Inc has Texas ranked high in talent from 2006 through 2012, top 6 average, yet Mack always has a “young team”. Texas is a meat grinder, they chew recruits up and spit them out. Brown wanted the last two Heisman winners to play defense, not their natural positions.

Thank you for interest in my dad and mom, they’ve been dead for ten years now and I still miss them. I chose to live in Texas because it is warm and I can
travel to either coast with relative ease for business. Texas also has no state income tax.

Tuesday morning will come and I’ll still be here blogging with Deb, Normtide
et al. We’ll either be celebrating A-la-bam-ah’s 15th national championship or
reviewing what Saban did wrong . Life will go on for us. You, however, will still
be stuck in nebraska. Enjoy being second tier!

oh, BTW his last name is SUH, not SUE and why can’t you admit that Mack owns nebraska.

    2010/10/16 Texas 20 – Nebraska 13 W
    2009/12/05 Texas 13 – Nebraska 12 W ** BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP **
    2007/10/27 Texas 28 – Nebraska 25 W
    2006/10/21 Texas 22 – Nebraska 20 W
    2003/11/01 Texas 31 – Nebraska 7 W
    2002/11/02 Texas 27 – Nebraska 24 W

Question is, will you be here should Alabama beat ND?

I doubt it. Enjoy your mythical life for you are truly a legend in your own mind.

I truly hope y’all aren’t buying that Ukeone is a professor. A professor has a better and more vast vocabulary, than this yahoo. Not to mention, they don’t have an inferiority complex….one in which he feels the need to refer to Southerner’s are ignorant or slow. The fact is, there are more Yankee’s and Mid-Westerner’s down here, than there are southern born patriots. As a matter of fact, my next door neighbor is a Cornhumper. The neighbor across the street from me, is a Buckeye.

He, and the rest of the gold dome pedophiles will NOT be on here. Unlike us, all of their fans are on the same bandwagon. Brian Kelly is 1-3 in Bowl Games. Neutered Lame has only won 2 out of their last 12 games, and they will add one more to the loss column, in about 33 hours. Their 75th ranked, scoring offense, against our number 1 defense will prove to be too much.

I believe that Bo Pelini is fast becoming Bob Stoops doppelgänger! Getting there, means nothing, if you can’t win the big game!

    Roll Tide!

  179. thegamecocker says: Jan 6, 2013 3:08 PM

Deb is correct. Ukeone is on this blog for one reason only: HE CRAVES THE ATTENTION. I truly hope he is not affiliated with Nebraska in any way because his posts are making the Cornhuskers’ appear ignorant. But I know the vast majority of U. of Nebraska fans are humble winners who show sportsmanship and respect to opponents, win or lose.

  200. ukeone says: Jan 9, 2013 1:00 PM

    JT:

Obviously you haven’t been paying attention to the barrage of attacks ‘on me’ by these “bad winners”…it has gotten to the point that being in this area isn’t enough for them, as b4bama (in particular) and her cohorts have decided to berrate me in your other articles (even though I have NOT responded in them in any way), then use this site as a stepping-stone to locate (stalk) me in other internet venues outside of NBC and CFT to continue her (and her co-hort’s) barrage there as well…The fact that you allow them to continue this shows that you and NBC promote this kind of activity, which really says a lot about you and your network….My responses were all in fun ‘to begin with,’ until one individual called me “a prick” (and the whole thing escalated downward from there)…My comments were no more or less crass and unacceptable as theirs were, as I am not a Notre Dame or Alabama fan; however, they have crossed the line when they decided to use this site as a stepping-point to stalk and harass me in other venues. That was the purpose of posting the IP address…however inappropriate you deem this to be…that they have “crossed the line with their obsessed behavior” and that I want them to stop these barrage of attacks! However, this obsessed group have seemingly gained “your approval” so it’s probably not likely that you will address that to them in any way. The fact is: They are berating me!….and CFT is their lauching pad..and I will continue to seek the necessary steps to get this to stop, even if this means including NBC/CFT as an example, describing how this kind of behavior is promoted in a public forum such as this one. And, your reference to yourself as “my daddy” shows that you are as much a part of this crap as they are. I apologize in the publishing of the IP address: however, if they can’t get the message that this has to STOP, then I will seek the outsie help I need to accomplish this! I have made a copy of this column (several times) to use as reference in my argument. Do whatever you have threatened to do, but I have already taken some necessary steps concerning b4bama (and anyone else who wishes to continue in this ‘uncontrolled’ behavior)…As I have stated earlier in the column, I have no interest in either Alabama or Notre Dame…They chose to escalate this the way it has, and they obviously don’t know when ‘enough is enough.’ This is what a ‘national championship’ has brought-out in this certain little faction of their fanbase…..a borderline, dangerous OBSESSION! If winning causes this kind of behavior, then they can HAVE the win! I just don’t want to be around when they finally LOSE!
