Two Gators officially declare for the NFL draft

Florida’s struggles to stop Louisville’s offense and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater Wednesday night’s Sugar Bowl have already been documented. Now, the Gators have lost two of their best defenders.

In a not-so-surprising move, safety Matt Elam (pictured) and defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd confirmed immediately after the game that they would be foregoing his senior and declaring for the NFL draft. Elam was expected to make the jump, according to his former high school coach.

After the game, Matt Elam and Sharrif Floyd both announced that they will enter the NFL Draft. Good luck to them both.

Elam was second on the team in the regular season with 65 tackles. He also had four interceptions and five pass break-ups. Floyd was fifth on the team in tackles (41) and first in tackles for loss (11-40).
