A Bama – Texas A&M rematch would have been a much better game, leaving ND to rematch with Oklahoma. Would have made for two better games, instead of two blowouts.

ND should just join the Little Ten, since they can’t beat the SEC either.

No offense to the rest of the country and the great conferences out there. This is why week in, week out the SEC play a tough conference schedule. It prepares teams for the mental aspect of the game. You can denigrate Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn and Arkansas all you want. Those teams will put some major knocks on the side of your head and you will still feel it Thursday in the training room.

Every weekend can’t be Georgia/Florida or Alabama/ LSU. This is why every SEC game matters, every quarter, every series, every play. This is why every weekend in an SEC football game, they will beat the ever loving crap out of each other and respect each other because each team knows that they got the best effort and the best play from their SEC opponent.

This builds respect and this builds an espirit de corp for the conference as a whole. I know other people will never understand this. perhaps this is why the SEC is a breed apart.

If Notre Dame played a SEC schedule during the season, we would have already known they weren’t quite ready for prime time. Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt (yes, Vandy) and the remainder of the SEC teams played against one another week in and week out and found out one another’s weaknesses and strengths.

The best competition in the country is in the SEC, and that makes a team stronger and ready to play outside the conference (if the team survives without too many injuries). Alabama tonight is showcasing the SEC excellence.

Love half time the reasoning of announcers for reason of out played ND, tackling. As just a fan of football no tie to either school the obvious is ND is completely outmached in the first half. How can a #1 team be the under dog? If this keeps up how do you rank ND in the top ten. No one thought this would be the score at half time. Poor coaching by ND not having this team ready.

Te’o was the Heisman runner-up for three reasons: 1) weak Heisman class (which was why a freshman won it for the first time ever), 2) Notre Dame’s PR machine, and 3) ESPN has made the decision that a player’s “story” is more important than his on-field performance. Te’o lost his mother and girlfriend at nearly the same time early in the season, so the WWL decided that it would make such a great Hollywood moment if he were to walk off with the Stiff-Armed Trophy at the end of the film…er, season. There was an element of that in 2009 with Mark Ingram winning, and one can even argue that RGIII’s potential marketability had a lot to do with the push he got in the last few weeks of the season last year. One can argue whether the Heisman was ever really a true indicator of college football’s best player, but it seems to have gotten all the credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize lately.
