Ex-UCLA RB headed to San Diego State

Exactly seven months after Malcolm Jones decided to take his leave of UCLA, Malcolm Jones has found a new collegiate football home.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the running back will enroll at San Diego State in June and become a walk-on to the Aztecs football team. Jones will be eligible to play immediately in 2013 as the Union-Tribune explains that, “since he only played in UCLA’s season opener against Rice, and has yet to use his redshirt season, the NCAA has given him permission to play right away when he joins SDSU.”

Jones will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Jones was a four-star member of UCLA’s 2010 recruiting class, rated byRivals.com as the No. 9 athlete in the country and the No. 12 player at any position in the talent-rich state of California coming out of Oaks Christian.

During his two-plus seasons at UCLA, Jones rushed for 313 yards on 83 carries and scored a touchdown. He carried the ball three times for 10 yards in the Bruins’ season opener.
