Yes, I agree with your post. The longer they stay, the better prepared they are for the NFL.

@wingsdj

OK wing-nut, Gardner's roll-outs....yes, I watched the game, the whole game, and nothing but the game! So help me G-d! Now get lost.

Lookit. High pick or not its been said enough times that his run blocking is in need of great improvement and that his foot work is inconsistent. He made the right choice by staying. More times than not it seems as though coming out early isn't the best decision. Joe Thomas, jake long, peyton manning, and Andrew luck are all guys that could have come out earlier than they did but stayed to get another year of experience. Andrew luck did come out a year early but was a RS sophomore but stayed. Ryan leaf, mark Sanchez, todd marankovich (sp) and many others are busts who needed more time. The reason I probably can't name more who left early and didn't succeed is because they left early when the $$$$ were flashed, and failed in the nfl and fell by the wayside.

I don't consider my post "trash talking". Clowney was double-teamed the majority of the game and Robinson's roll-outs we're away from Clowney. Lewan is a terrific pro-prospect and excellent D-1 college player. He played Clowney as well as could be expected and played. A fine game. The timing of the HIT, coming on the next play after the blatant erroneous first down call by "STEVIE WONDER", changed the ultimate outcome of the game. Clowney would have been the first player selected in the NFL draft this year and will be next years sans an injury.

Clowney had a serviceable game but was kept under his tackles average by a very good OT. Hats off to Lewan. But as to the TE missing an assignment, he didn't miss, he had NO chance. The only real surprise in this game was how well Michigan stayed with Carolina. I really thought we would win by 20.

I wouldn't use the term "owned Clowney," but Lewan certainly LIMITED Clowney from playing one of his usual monster games. What did he end with ... 4 tackles? It's certainly fair to say Lewan at least "CONTAINED"Clowney rather well, and probably better than anyone else Clowney played against all year.... That was clearly a great performance by Lewan. Sure glad he's coming back. GO BLUE!!!!!!!

Clowney was a actually a non-factor in the bowl game because he only had 3 tackles. Lewan did shut him down in that game regardless what you may think.

The play where he blew up Smith was plain and simple a missed assignment by the TE Aaron Williams. The play was supposed to be a run to the left and to the outside of Clowney. The TE blocks down and to the inside on the DE, and the LT does not engage the DE and instead moves immediately to the "2nd level "and blocks and turns the Strong side LB. Taylor did his job on that play, the TE did not.

Give Clowney credit for exploiting that play and making that amazing tackle in the backfield on Smith.

ok, come on! Clowney is a great player and that hit was amazing, but you can't go back and watch that play and tell me he owned any offensive lineman. It was clearly a missed assignment or he was unaccounted for on that play. I mean nobody even attempted to block him, the 2 nearest linemen ran past him trying to block somebody else, and Clowney just ran through untouched.

Your trash talking is cute, but you might as well get the score right. It was 33-28. Also, if you consider the devastating numbers that Clowney put up this season plus the fact that Clowney would likely go number 1 overall in the draft this year, I would say that Lewan had a pretty good game.

Even the announcers were saying that Clowney had been more or less invisible prior to that play. I wouldn't expect you to notice this though since you only watched the highlights and not the game or the film.

Yea,
Lewan "owned" Clowney?...I wonder if the Michigan RB Smith agrees with that? I doubt it! Smith is lucky his helmet was the only thing he lost! Jadeveon Clowney was double- teamed all game. And that includes when Michigan ran away from his side! 35-28....read it and weep!

This seems pretty unusual. He'd have been the second lineman off the board, most likely top 10, and next year's tackle class seems more crowded from what I can tell, even if he doesn't hurt his own stock.

But I'm glad Jake Long passed along the tale of how he, Henne, and Hart all came back as Seniors to win a championship/lose to Appalachian State in week 1.
