Heater headed to the Herd?

A month and a half after Marshall’s defensive coordinator “resigned,” which came after giving up 124 points in back-to-back weeks to close out the season, it appears the Herd is on the verge of tabbing a replacement.

According to the Charleston Daily Mail, and citing a source close to the search, head coach Doc Holliday is on the verge of naming Chuck Heater as his new coordinator. Heater would replace Chris Rippon, who held the job for the past three seasons.

An official announcement is expected within the next few days, the paper reported.

Holliday and Heater worked on Urban Meyer‘s staff at Florida from 2005-07, so there’s certainly a high-degree of familiarity there.

Heater has spent the past two seasons at Temple and was a candidate to replace Steve Addazio, who left to become the head coach at Boston College. He’s also served on coaching staffs at, among others, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
